Nina Nobody
Nina thought she was nobody
because that’s what people said
she looked down at her hands
and saw the color red.
She had ended their life.
The life of the one
who could never just accept her.
The one whose parents bragged
because they kept her.
Nina was an orphan
so they would poke fun
they would circle her, block her,
and force her to run.
But Nina came back.
But with a knife instead of hope.
What Nina didn’t know
is that there were other answers
but she chose a direction that widened the problem.
What Nina didn’t know
was that she was somebody
she was just somebody who needed help.
Nina says now that she wishes she asked for it.
