P.S

The whole story is based on the song The Only Exception by Paramore. I'm sure you all know it.

Sooo yeah i tried to keep the storyline as close to the song as possible. And that song is my inspiration for this piece of writing.

The Only Exception

The moon was their candle; the air was their feast. The fresh breeze of the night washed away the pitiful warmth they exchanged with their eyes.

The young couple sat face to face as two frozen puppets. There were no feelings, no emotions, no heat.

Nothing.

The young woman studied the young man with confusion and frustration in her eyes. Her impatience grew with time and her manner disappeared as the wind blew.

[I don't believe in love,] she whispered at last. Her blue irises, as if sharp and painful, pierced through the young man's heart. He looked up, his eyes equally cold, his body just as calm. But unlike her droopy heart, he felt a tight squeeze. Something shook inside his chest. It wasn't hesitation.

It was determination.

[But I believe in love.]

[I never loved anyone and I never will.]

[You love everyone, you just refuse to believe it.]

[You are trying to change my belief and morals aren't you?]

[Are you?]

She stood up from her seat, her arm knocking over the over priced wine. The red liquid escaped the elegant glass recklessly; pouring out like the over-matured feeling the young man was feeling. She picked up the glass, snatched over the handkerchief and placed it over the dyed up tablecloth. She hid the stain well; no one now will be able to see the purple pedals blossomed out of wine. Nobody will see it, but she herself knew it was still there. [If I'm the someone that you want to love, then I'll be that someone. I'll treat you nicely. I'll go have dinner with you; I'll go watch movies with you. I'll take care of you when you're sick and I'll be there when you need someone.]

The young man's lips curved up by a few degrees by those words, his shadow cast by the moonlight seemingly turned less lonely.

[But,] she continued, her upper body leaning towards his side of the table. She spoke lightly beside his right ear, the harsh words were spoken purposely to warn him and to make him remember, [I cannot promise you that I will return the feeling.]

The rush and the excitement he was feeling shredded into pieces. He felt a wave of discourage, but he merely smiled, [You are warning me that I'll regret for doing this.]

She nodded truthfully, not trying to hide.

[I want you to know,] he placed his hands on her shoulders and stood up slowly. He gently pushed her away and walked over to envelope her in his arms, [You say you won't love anyone. I say I'll be the only exception.]

The countless love letters lay unopened under the foot of the bed. Dust from the heart shaped letters twirled their way through the air as she walked pass by. Bare feet, she walked her way to the balcony, opened the glass door and inhaled as much fresh oxygen as she could. The coolness of the autumn wind woke her up completely. Her exhaustion vanished at once.
