In The Distance

I personally live in an area with many trees. Sometimes I stare into the woods and wonder: if I could see across the entire world, in a straight line back to where I am, through every building, tree and obstacle... what would be happening right now?
Would I see a class in a different part of the world full of laughing children? Would I see a fight in an alleyway? Would I see a school of fish swimming around innocently in the depths of the ocean? Would I see a tiger prancing gracefully through the jungle? Would I see a couple having a pleasant dinner? Or stargazing? Or cloud watching? Or just watching TV? Would I see a family having fun together? Would I see a boss yelling at an employee? Would I see somebody jamming out to music in their car? Would I see somebody sleeping peacefully? Would I see a lizard skitter across a desert? Would I see a group of kids playing a sport? Professional, perhaps? Volleyball? Basketball? Soccer? Football? Lacrosse? Baseball? Track? Hockey? Would I see somebody celebrating an accomplishment with their parents? A panda yawning lazily? Would I see somebody else staring into the woods, too?

I'll never know what's happening this very moment, but there will always be this curiosity.
This curiosity about the life somebody else could potentially be living. At this very moment. Doing something else completely different. In the morning, afternoon, evening or night, somebody or something else is living an entirely different life. The world is so huge! Just going in a perfectly straight line you could see millions of things! As big or as small as they are, they're happening this very moment. Isn't that spectacular?

Or maybe I just think too much!
