Star's POV: Toffee's dead, I guess... I just did that weird butterfly transformy thing, and I have no idea where in Mewni my mom is.

"Hey Buffrog, do you know where my mom ran off to?"

"No, Princess. The last I saw of the Queen was when Ludo crushed Toffee with large pillar."

I started to get worried. With everything that was going on my mom could be anywhere. I tried to think of the happy thoughts, but all of the worse things kept rushing back in. I guess Marco caught wind of this because as soon as I started to show it, he was right by my side.

"Hey Star, it's gonna be okay," Marco cradled me in his arms, "we're gonna find your mom."

"It's not just my mom, Marco." I said as I pushed him away.

"Well then what's wrong? You can tell me."

"I know, I know, it's just that..." I looked down at the ground.

Marco touched my cheek softly and lifted my head so our eyes locked. "What's wrong, Star?"

"Are things gonna be different between us now?"

"Why would things be different, we're still best friends, and we're gonna be friends no matter what happens."

"What about what happened back on Earth?"

"Oh...that. Do we have to talk about that now?"

"Well when are we gonna talk about it? Soon enough things will be back to normal, and you'll be off with your girlfriend, and I'll be left in the dust."

"Star, you know that isn't true."

"What about at the concert, I left and you didn't even notice!"

"I didn't want to leave Jackie by herself."

"See! There you go Jackie means more to you than I do."

"Star, can you let me talk? What I wanted to say was that-"

"Marco, I think we should just-"

Before I could tell what was happening, Marco was leaning in towards me. I though that we were gonna do our usual make-up hug, so I held out my arms. He pushed them down, put his hands on my cheeks, and softly pressed his lips against mine.

At that moment, any doubt I had about how he felt towards me melted away. The only thing that held me there were his arms securing me in place. His strong, kind arms that I had been waiting so long to hold. Not as a friend, but as maybe more.
