Chapter One: Wild Things- Alessia Cara

><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><

Unchangingly boring and drastically uneventful. Both hold a similar meaning but are most accurate to describe my life. 18 years of the same darn thing and I still don't feel like I've gotten anywhere. I kept my head down listening to some random song that I probably know but don't remember. I stepped off the curb and started walking oblivious to the fact that the light was red for pedestrians. I felt myself be yanked and I was rolled with a chest shielding my face and arms gripping me.

"Are you fucking crazy," His accent was strong and I took out my remaining earphone and glared at the one that was snatched when we hit the ground.

"That's 14$ wasted," I grumble and winced. My whole left leg was scraped up.

"I'll take that as a yes, come on I'll take you to a pharmacy and bandage your leg up," He mumble lowly and helped me up.

"I don't need it," I crossed my arms and he grabbed my wrist and started to walk, forcing me to go with him.

"Sure you don't," He spoke after tightening his grip when I tried to pull away.

"I'm honestly fine," I gave a smile to try and prove it.

"Yeah, I know," He agreed and kept walking and pulling me with him. His grip was still tight but it wasn't uncomfortable or enough to bruise or hurt me. Someone that can actually control their grip?

"I'm being serious," I spoke after a moment and he stopped and looked at me with an emotionless expression.

"We confirmed early that you're fucking crazy, it doesn't surprise me that you think you're fine, OK, in good condition, however you want to phrase it. Although, to me, that scrape can have dirt and small pebbles indented into your leg letting harmful bacteria and god knows what else. Now, if I had my car which has my first aid kit in it I'll be treating you without having to search for a freaking pharmacy. But, I left my car in Kentucky with my family," He ranted and I busted out laughing.

"You don't sound like you're from Kentucky," I gave a huge smile and he shook his head.

"That's all you got out of that?," He looked baffle and this time in was the one to shake my head.

"I heard it all, but that stuck out the most," I started walking," come on we're not far from one since you gave such a huge speech on pebbles and dirt and bacteria".

"I'm from Greece, we moved here about 5-6 years ago," He let me lead but still didn't let go of my wrist, yet his grip loosen.

"So you must have a weird name," I turned and he followed quickly, shortening his steps to match my pace better," also why are you here in boring ole' san antonio".

"I'm here for a week to tour the base as a civilian and then I fly to an other one from BCT, then I'll be back here for medical training," He explained and frowned," The only down side is my hair, I never really cut it before".

I wanted to laugh, I honestly did but I realized that he wasn't actually upset about cutting it.

"Your name," I heard him and stopped," I've been asking what your name is, did you hit your head"?

"Oh," I stop in front of a run down pharmacy run by a lovely old couple," Zailah".

"I'm Matthaios," He smiled and open the door.

"Mat-tha-ee-us," I tilted my head sounding it out, probably unsuccessfully.

"Not even, Matt-Hai-Os," He said it slowly and I repeated it.
