Chapter 9

*Monday morning*

"Sara, you have to go to Maryland with him!" Ava tells me.

I give her a look. "How am I suppose to explain MARYLAND to my parents?"

"The Fate Squad will cover for you," Ava says, gathering the group together.

"We're happy to help you out," Ally agrees with Ava.

"Even Alex is a pedo," Ellie murmurs.

"He is not hank, for the billionth time!" I shout.

"Calm down, jeez," Ava pats me on the back.

"I mean he is 21," Diana chimes in.

"True," Ava says. She sees the angry expression on my face and nervously giggles. "Or maybe not. But we're happy to help in anyway possible."

"But there's--" I try to argue, but Ava interrupts.

"Buh, buh, buh," Ava tries to shut me up. "When's he leaving?"

"..today," I answer. 

"Seriously?" Ava rolls her eyes.

"Anyways it's too late," I shrug.

"But when's the SHOW?" Tessa jumps in. Well nice of you to join us, Tess.

"..Friday," I answer.

"You still have time, Sherlock," Ellie bursts in.

I guess. But even if I do show up..there's no way I'll be able to start today with Alex. I guess there goes Maryland.

"You're not giving up! And I'm gonna make sure of it!" Ava declares walking off to her 1st block.

"Well Detective Ava seems very determined to get Salex back together," Tessa comments.

"We're still together," I tell her.

"..not for long," Diana murmurs.

Whatever. I wonder how Alex is taking the news...

*Alex's POV*

Well Sara's not coming to Maryland..bummer. At least I still have Sarah or Sab to do my back up, but it's not the same.

"You still bummed out over Sarbear not coming?" Sabrina teases.

I give her a death stare.

"Sorry, I was just playing," Sabrina says, sitting next to me.

"It's ok. It's just..not gonna be the same without Sara," I frown.

"I mean you only did 1 show with her...a week ago," Sabrina explains.

"True, but that show..it was the best," I look back.

"Maybe a little FaceTime show with Sara in Maryland will cheer you up..?" Sabrina shrugs.

"I mean we were thinking about that. We still don't know what we're gonna do," I tell her.

"You guys will figure it out," Sabrina says, looking down. She tries so hard to hide that glassy look.

"What's wrong, Carpenter?" I say, grabbing her hands. Woah, when did I become so..with Sab?

"Um," She looks down at me holding her hands. "Peyton and I called it quits." She burst into tears.

I came closer and embraced her into a hug. "What happened?"

"We were drifting apart," her voice breaks.

"Aw," I coo.

I heard her murmur something, but I didn't quite hear it.
