Daniel ignored Anahi for the rest of the day. For the last 3 periods of the day, she tried to talk to him in each one, but he ignored her, focusing only on his work.
Once the end of the school day rolled around Anahi pack up her stuff and started to head to towards where Daniel would normally wait for her.
Instead she saw Daniel, laughing along with Zach. When Daniel made eye contact with Anahi his entire demeanor changed. He slipped his phone out and began to play on it pretending he didn't see Anahi.
"Daniel," she said quietly, as if speaking any louder would scare him off.
"Daniel," she tried again. Zach was standing quietly to the side, watching everything go down.
She decided to try again, only using a nickname only she called him.
"Niel"
You could see how the word visibly affected Daniel. He stood stiff, his gaze met Anahi's eyes before he looked at Zach.
"I'll text you later." And with that he walked off.
Anahi looked sadly at the spot where Daniel once stood.
"You dont get it do you?" Zach said, snapping Anahi put of her trance. She shook her head.
"You chose Jonah over him. You went after Jonah.He's scared he's losing you." Zach and Anahi made eye contact before he ran off towards Daniel.
Jonah saw Anahi standing on her own.
"Do you need a ride back?" He said, interrupting. Anahi glanced at him before looking at Daniel's car pull out of the parking lot.
She smiled and Jonah, but shook her head.
"No, I'm good."
