I couldn't wait for my shift to finish, I'd been working from 10 am and it was now nearing 8pm. I put all the perfume testing strips in the bin, rolling my eyes at the choice of song the store has been repeating- despacito. It kind of represented my current situation in a way as time was moving slowly. Haha, jokes.

"Only thirty minutes left" my colleague and best friend Chantelle reminded me.

"Those last thirty minutes feel the longest though" I complained making Chantelle laugh.

"True that" she agreed walking over to her assigned area, the makeup aisle. Chantelle and I had both started working at Superdrug on the same day, two years ago, and had since then become inseparable.

We couldn't be more different though, she was outgoing and didn't stand for anyone's bullshit whereas I stood more on the quiet and non-confrontational spectrum.

"Excuse me" my thoughts were interrupted by a snappy middle aged blonde lady. I apologised for her having to wait but she wasn't having it as she started going on about how I shouldn't be working here due to my lack of concentration and ability to serve costumers. I know I said I'm non confrontational but I'm not a dickhead either.

Just as I was about to say something back to this moody bitch some guy standing behind her in the queue got involved.

"Can you hurry up and pay for your stuff, chatting bare shit" he kissed his teeth impatiently. She gasped in shock, done as she was told and snatched the carrier bag from my hands.

"Dumb bitch" he muttered, loud enough for her to hear whilst handing me his items that consisted of a bottle of surgical spirit and some painkillers. I quickly scanned his stuff as he seemed to be a rush.

"That would be £3.54"

As he took a fiver out his pocket I took in his appearance. He was undoubtedly good looking from his tall but muscular build and rich mocha complexion but what stood out the most was his dark, almost black eyes. He wore a grey Armani Jeans tracksuit and black Nike 110's.

"Safe" he said as I gave him his change. He placed his items in his black Armani pouch and walked out the shop.

"Yasss bitch it's time to go" Chantelle shouted from across the room, sighing in relief. I laughed as we walked to the staff room to collect our things.

"I won't be taking the bus with you today by the way, Ray's picking me up" I announced.

Ray's my boyfriend of six months, we met at uni as he does the same economics course as me. We've recently been experiencing a rough patch in our relationship as we've been distancing and not putting as much effort in the relationship as we had done before which is why he offered to drive me home today.

Chantelle kissed her teeth, she never liked him from the get go. Apparently there's something off about him. I would've offered her a ride home with us but she couldn't stand being near his presence. She was dramatic like that.

"Whatever" she said as we signed out and exited the shop.

"You know you can do so much better than him" she proceeded to say. I sighed, we've been through this conversation so many times.

"Okay Chantelle I know you don't like him, you tell me all the time I don't have a reason to end things with him yet" I responded.
