Chapter 2-

•••

The next morning I woke up with this bad headache. I was so worried about Axel coming back that I totally forgot that I live with my aunt, Marie. She's thirty-two years old. She has a job that keeps her there till twelve at midnight. It's a Friday so she has off. I got ready and wore a black crop top with my high-waisted ripped black jeans. I finished my outfit off with my black and white converse. I left my hair as it is.

"Julie, baby?" Marie calls out my name.

"Yes, Marie?" I walk into her room. She laid flat on the bed. "You going to stay in bed all day?" I chuckled.

She smiled at me and nodded her head, yes. "So I got paid yesterday and I wanted you to have some of what I earned." She smiled.

"Marie, you know I will not accept--"

"Julie, it's disrespectful to not accept a gift." She sternly said. I gave out a sigh. "It's in my drawer. I want you to use it wisely." She smiled at me. I nodded my head and took the money. This stack of money looked pretty thick. I wonder how much was it so I started counting as I walked down the stairs.

I couldn't believe it!

"Two hundred and twenty-five dollars?!" I exclaimed. I don't know how much money she makes exactly. Maybe I should go shopping.

I walked out the door and the first thing I see is a smirking Axel on my doorstep. He knows where I live because he used to come over every day. My aunt even liked him. He was a different person whenever he came to my house but out on the streets, he was totally different.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked him.

"I have nowhere to go." He shrugged his shoulders.

I snickered. "You're not staying here."

"Yes, I am." He smiled so innocently. My heart was actually melting. His dimples were perfect. I couldn't help but smile back at him. "What? You falling in love?" He put on his signature smirk and I immediately glared at him.

"No." I rolled my eyes.

"Two years ago," he said. "Two years ago you promised me that if I ever needed a place to stay you would let me stay as long as I want." He crossed his arms.

"No, I didn't." Shit! I completely forgot about that promise. It was two years ago! I tried walking away but every time I tried moving he moved in front of me.

"You did." He stared directly into my eyes, my soul. I was shaking. I then looked away.

"Fine." I rolled my eyes.

"I am your ex-best friend." He smiled then waited at the front door of my house. I grunted and stomp my way to open the door.

We both went inside and he slouched on the couch and lifted up his feet on the coffee table. "Get your filthy leg off the table." I crossed my arms.

"Whatever." He took his feet down. "Let's skip school. I don't have any money and I need to go buy some clothes."

"Get your own money, bastard." I sat beside him. "Get a job."

"I would if I had some fancy clothes," He said in a 'duh' tone. I rolled my eyes at him. "And why don't you get a job and stop living off of aunt Marie."

I snickered. "Shut up!" I smacked his arm lightly and we both started laughing... then we stopped, stared at each other and immediately looked away...

Silence filled the room... No one spoke. We just sat there, staring at the cream-colored, painted walls.

My head started filling with the memories we had together. I missed the old days where we'd prank each other.
