If only,
Could I have worn a costume, to everywhere;
Everywhere, to all the social gatherings,
That every once in a while, befall;
To my relatives' nuptials...
And to the dining hall;
Couldn't have been many - a glare...
As it would have hardly surprised them at all;
If only,
Could I have worn a costume, to everywhere,
So that none could see - my fall;
Could have been the one that...
covered my face and body as a whole;
That be a wall, between me and...
the people - termed "world" on the whole;
The one that would have -
Left my freedom uncovered...
And helped let lose my soul;
That broke through my shyness...
And the curious glances - of them all;
The one that prevented gazing in...
But would have -
Let me see and be all,
Let me be a child again...
At times happiest, but mostly saddest of them all;
Could have been anything for all I care,
Sans it, they would have seen through me,
Without ever needing to dare,
The way it has been, as far as I recall;
If only, could I have worn a costume to everywhere...
everywhere but to the rain - as it falls,
for then there would have been drops...
around eyes of all.
