Kiya.

Sipping on my coffee, I stared outside the balcony observing the quietness of the morning and taking in a full fresh breath of the non polluted air. My hands wrapped around my mug and I felt my ring sitting snugly on my ring finger. Memories from a year back came pouring in as I remember the way in which Maan proposed to me in this very house.

When I got back from office, I noticed the living room all dark, Maan’s usually home by this time turning on all the lights, I felt this was weird. There was a bit of light coming from the bedroom and my feet took me in that direction my curious mind not leaving me alone. Pushing open the door I found candles lit everywhere, not just plain candles but scented ones, Maan stood wearing a T-shirt and black jeans smiling, but I could read behind, her nervousness coming through. “Why are you here, what is all this, why are the lights all off...” I babbled on when she called out, sorry that's polite Shouted at me to get my attention making sure I shut my big mouth. When I looked at her, she dropped to one knee, ‘I want to sit with you and watch reality Tv on our couch, for the rest of our lives.  Kiya, will you marry me.’ with that she opened box showing the ring. I didn't care about the ring, I just wanted to hug her and never leave her. Slipping the ring into my finger, sealed the deal for us.

I felt a kiss on my forehead and I looked up to see Maan giving me my morning kiss, this was our little tradition, we did not say good morning but kissed each other good morning. “Coffee is on the table for you.” She went to get her coffee and pulled up a chair next to me, intertwining our hands which fell a few inches above the floor. I smiled at her, feeling our fingers fit perfect with each other. “My friends are coming to pick me up in a few hours.” I announced, knowing well that she dreaded this statement all this while, conforming my thoughts when she groaned in response. “Don't leave...” she picked up my hand placing a kiss to the back of it, “Maan, you know it's not possible. There are rules.” “We’ve broken all rules, why bother about this one.” I looked at her to see her putting her tongue out to me in a playful manner, “Who’ll make me my morning coffee when you're gone?” “So… I’m your coffee machine? I'm never marrying you.” I poked out my tongue mimicking her. She placed her mug down, pulling my chair to face hers,  “I can get a coffee maker, but who’s going to give me my morning kiss? Huh?” our face was only inches apart now, I leaned in to kiss her counting between every kiss, making sure to leave five kisses for each day, “You have my kisses in advance now.”

I packed my bag ready to leave, my wedding clothes were at a friends house, where I’d be staying as was Maan’s. We couldn’t risk each other seeing the outfits, they were supposed to be a surprise. I heard Maan walk into the room mumbling a Hi, I smiled back and looked at my closet, checking if I needed anything else. I felt Maan’s hands on my hips, her lips on my neck, kissing me. I turned to see her, pupils dilated as her gaze remained focused on my lips. Wasting no time she went to my neck as my hands moved to her hair, “Maan, we can't do this, there's no time, they’ll be here any minute.” Saying that, I did not want her to stop either, I pulled her chin towards me, her lips meeting mine in urgency. Things progressed quickly as her hand found it's way under into my pants and just as she was to unbutton my jeans, the doorbell rang. “Fuck, stop stop stop...” I tried to move away, being completely out of breath. I fell further behind into my closet, Maan’s chin resting on my shoulder, our breath evening out, when the doorbell rang again followed by loud knocks on the door. I pushed Maan to one side, making a gap for me to go through, as she was still recovering, I tried to straighten my hair, catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror, making sure the I didn't look like I had just been making out.

I went to open the door to see two of my friends, Kushi and Asha standing there annoyed that I took time to open the door. “You ready?” they asked walking in, “Let me get my bag.” I walked into the room and saw that Maan was sitting on the bed, doing something with my bag, but stopping suddenly when she saw me enter, “What was that?” “Nothing...” “Hey, give me one last kiss...” she called me with, her fingers calling me to her as I leaned in to give her a kiss, Asha and Kushi blasting into the room, “Oh, sorry no more kissing until the wedding.” pulling me away from Maan. “Is this bag it?” Kushi asked picking it up, as I nodded. “Come On, there's a lot to be done.” They beckoned me outside. I kissed a goodbye kiss on Maan’s cheek, taking my bag to leave.

Maan followed us to the door to say a goodbye, with Kushi in front, Asha in the middle and me who was last, who ran back up only after taking a few steps down to place a firm kiss on Maan’s lips, scurrying away to join the other two, with a big smile on my face.
