Mariana's P.O.V.

It's finally here! The day I have been waiting my whole life for. Okay... That's a little bit of an exaggeration. Ever since I was old enough to know what Europe was, I have wanted to visit the continent. And here I was, about to be starting my second semester of my freshman year of college, heading across the ocean to go study abroad in England! I could feel the excitement tingling inside me.

"Mariana! Hurry up! You're going to miss your flight!"

"Coming, Mom!"

I took one last look at my room. I think I have everything. I HOPE I have everything! It's going to be seven months until I'm back in the states. I'm spending spring and summer semesters in England.

I run down the hallway and out the front door, locking it behind me.

"Do you have your passport? Computer, phone, wallet, and your School information?"

"Yes, mom, I'm fine." I say as I roll my eyes.

Once we arrive at the airport, I check in and receive my ticket. My mom walks me as far as she can, then turns,

"I'm so proud of you, honey. I love you more than anything. Always remember that! You're at the starting line of the rest of your life and you are so ready. I remember when your daddy and I first got to hold you in that soft, pink blanket." she says, with tears in her eyes.

"I miss him, mom."

"I know you do, honey. I do too. But, he'll be with you wherever you go."

LAST CALL UA FLIGHT 238 TO LONDON

"I love you, mom."

"I love you too, baby. Be sure to let me know when you land."

"I will, mom."

"Bye, sweetheart."

"Bye."

It's kind of bittersweet, you know. I am leaving my mom, but, on the other hand, I am going somewhere I've been dreaming of for a long time.

After I say goodbye to my mom, I practically run to my gate and barely make it in time to catch my flight.

Unfortunately, upon boarding the plane, I discover I must've left my phone in the car because it is nowhere to be seen. This is going to be a long flight. I guess I will be using my computer.

So, I mess around on the computer for a little while before eventually dozing off. Next thing I know I'm being shook awake by the pedophilic looking man next to me.

"Excuse me, but we just landed and I need to get out of the plane. I have somewhere to be."

Well, me too. Instead of smarting off at him, I get up grab my things and exit the plane. The minute I step outside of the airport the brisk air hits me. It's night, but the bright lights of the city made it seem quite bright.

I eventually find the cab that was waiting for me. The driver helps me load my things into the trunk then gets in. He turns to me,

"Good evening, miss. I hope you had a safe flight."

"I did, thank you."

"You have about an hour and half drive to Braxton University, miss. Do you know which hall you be residing in?"

"Yes, Hughes Hall."

Shoot! I was supposed to let my mom know I landed safely. Just add getting a new phone on my list of things to do tomorrow.
