A/N: So, this is a fucked up chapter. I was tired and typing and this is what my brain decided would work. *laughs nervously* Hope you all enjoy it. Vote, comment, enjoy :3

I got into the elevator, waiting for the doors to close when someone else walked in, pressing a floor number. They were wearing a dark hoodie that was pulled up to save themselves from the downpour outside. I noticed they nodded, so just to be nice I nodded back. I needed to get to Kendall’s office before she lost her mind. I had just gotten a very angry text from her.

As the elevator slowly made its way up the floors, the person next to me moved slightly, hitting the emergency button. Pulling down their hood, Kason’s face came into view. He had a devious smile on his face as he looked me in the eyes, “Hello Derek.”

I didn’t tense up; I just looked at him with the best poker face I could muster even if the inside of me was screaming bloody murder, “Kason.”

His body tensed up as his eyes narrowed in my direction, I couldn’t help but tense up as well, “You remember what I told you.” His words were cold, but I was not giving in, I would not give him the satisfaction of knowing I remembered anything about him.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, now I have meeting I need to get you, so I’m going to let the elevator be on its way and I am going to pretend you are not here, thank you.”

Wrong words.

The next thing I knew I was pressed against the cold glass on the elevator, the oxygen being cut off as his hand wrapped around my throat, holding me in place. I couldn’t move, I could feel the heat from his body being transferred to mine as I looked into his eyes.

“I told you I wasn’t going to let you get away with this. Did you think I was kidding? Cole is mine, he always has been and he always will. You think you can just steal a man from someone and get away with it? You don’t even know who you’re dealing with.” His eyes were dark, with lifelessness seeping out of them. He was putting more pressure on my throat as he continued to smile, even as my face started turning blue.

“K-kason. You can’t kill me.” I was trying to speak as the air in my lungs depleted, I could see my life flashing before my eyes before I realized he really didn’t care, he was going to kill me right here, right now.

I thrashed as my foot finally made contact with his stomach, making him flop onto the ground and smack his head against the floor. There was no blood, which was good. He looked up at me and yelled at me, calling me things I never thought I would ever hear again.

As he thrashed to get up I heard something from on top of the elevator, looking around I glared down at Kason, “Shut up for one god damn second, do you hear that?”

He got to his feet and listened, he was looking up with me. “That sounds like…” his sentence got cut off as we heard the cables of the elevator snapping, sending us flying downwards.

As we fell further and further down the shaft, I couldn’t help but look over at Kason, who was at one minute tough as nails pissed off at me and the next, he was gripping the railing as we fell, his face looking over at me with terror.

The emergency break finally clicked on as the elevator screeched to a halt, holding my breath I imagined crashing into the bottom of the shaft, nothing left of Kason or I but a pink mist. After several terrifying seconds of complete silence, I moved towards the doors, trying to pry them open and see where we were.

“Don’t open the doors, you’ll just incite the elevator to let go and we’ll die.” Kason hissed at me, his eyes full of anger.

“So you just suggest we sit in this elevator, waiting for someone to save us or before you kill me. I would rather see where we are, because to be completely honest, I don’t want to be stuck in this little shitty elevator waiting for it to release the break and let us die.”

Looking him in the eyes, he huffed out some steam and started helping me with the door, “I still hate you and I still want to kill you, but I want to be the one to do it, not some elevator.”

As we pried the doors open, I noticed that the elevator was stuck between two floors, one was under renovation and the other was part of the offices. I called out for someone, seeing a few people walking around the offices.

“Derek! Are you alright!?” A male voice called out from the offices, I couldn’t see a face, just a body in a suit, “What the hell happened?”

“The cable snapped a few floors up, can you help us out?”

Kason pushed me aside, knowing exactly who it was, “Cole, please help me. I’m trapped in here and my claustrophobia is starting to kick in.” I could hear the fake tears strolling down his eyes, he was really playing the poor me act right now.

“Just give me your hand, Kason.” A hand reached into the elevator, pulling Kason out.

I stood there in shock as I watched Kason’s hoodied arms wrap themselves around Cole’s suited body, I was not a very happy camper. Why the hell was he doing this? When did it become a competition to see who could win Cole’s heart, but let’s be honest with ourselves… I’ve already won. The outside of me was calm and collected but inside I could feel the raging volcano that was jealousy wanting to boil out and let Cole have a full figured attack, but who would that help? Certainly not me.

“Okay Kason, I need to get Derek out of the elevator now, can you please let me go?” The irritation in his voice made me feel better about the situation, he wasn’t actually enjoying the attention he was getting from the other man, which made me smile a little. See, I already won this war Kason, so you can back the fuck off.

I held my hand out, waiting for his hand to grab mine, but soon I heard the same sound I had heard before. Oh my god, the emergency brake is giving out. I quickly pulled my hand back in, looking at the floor below me. I made my way out of the elevator by jumping onto the floor below, sawdust flying all over the place. I coughed a little and then I heard the sound I was so glad I didn’t hear inside the elevator. The emergency brake let go and the elevator started falling. That’s when I heard the voice from the empty shaft.

“DEREK!?” A silence filled the air as I realized he thought I had gone down with the elevator, “Oh my god, DEREK!?”

I finally got enough oxygen in my voice to yell back up, “I’m fine. I’m on floor seventeen.”

A could hear the audible sigh in his voice, “Oh thank god. I’ll come get you.”

I started walking around the room, trying to see what was being renovated, I had heard about some silly rumors about this floor, like I should even believe them. Someone said they found a dead body in the floorboards, some say there was cocaine being brewed here, some went so far as to tell me the Bradley family ran a prostitution ring on this floor.

I heard the door open down the hall, Cole stepping into view, a tired smile on his face. He ran over to me, engulfing me in a bear hug, “What the hell happened?”

All I could give out was a small laugh, “It’s been a long day.”

He smiled as he ruffled my hair, “I’m so glad you’re okay. Where were you headed, I’ll walk with you there.”

I smiled lightly, “Kendall’s Office.”

With his arm around my shoulder, we started up the stairs.
