Barely the break of dawn, I was awake and heading out to see my parents, my only family I have. My feet hit the door step of my old home and I took a deep breath, breathing in all the nostalgia. This place has grown in age like I have, my mother and father both high in age can't take care of this place like they used to. I reached down into the nearby flower pot and pulled out the spare key, allowing myself in, the key has been in the same place for 20 years. "Mom, dad, I'm here!" I called out setting the key on the counter as I walked in, in the 22 years of my life, the only things to change here are the pictures. My foot kicked the door closed behind me. "Who are you?" My father questioned me angered. A sigh escaped my lips as I crouched down in front of him. "Papa it's me, Aeri" I looked into his eyes, his dementia was kicking in today. "You're not my Aeri-" "Youngmin, be nice! That's your daughter" my mom cut off my father and hugged me. "She's not my daughter, I don't know her! My daughter disappeared after the accident! She hasn't been here since Ahnjong died! Besides, my little girl would actually give me genuine smiles no matter what!" My father began yelling out. Mother sighed and took his wheelchair to their bedroom and made him go rest. "Sorry about that dear, you know how he is" mom smiled apologetically. "It's fine, he's right though. I am different since then, and I don't smile that much" I sighed. "Honey you say that every time you come here" she guided me over to the couch and made me sit with her. "But its true, I haven't had a reason to smile or anything since Ahnjong passed... he wasn't only my brother, he was my best friend". Mom caressed my cheek and sighed. "Now, let's change topics and stop talking about all the sad stuff, what brings you here sweetie?" I sighed then sat up straight and looked at her. "I have a trip, starting tomorrow. I'll be gone a while" I fake smiled. "I said stop with the sad stuff" she mumbled barely audible. "How long this time, Aeri?" My mother looked concerned. She knows what my career is like because my father did the same thing before he retired. "10 months minimum, I don't know if phone service will be well, but I will try to call once a week. " I informed her. My mothers gaze lowered to the floor. "Be careful" she said, he voice shaking. Tears began to run down her face. I pulled my mother close and held her for a moment.  "You should go pack, likely chance is they'll have you on a plane at midnight" I nodded, that's how it usually goes. "Take care of dad, I'll be home before you know it" I said getting up and leaving.
