I guess you noticed me right then
When you tried to hold eye contact with me to raise a point—
And I could never do it
I could never stare comfortably and easily at your dark earthly eyes
I would always look away—or twitch uncontrollably in the most ungraceful array
I would never hold your stare
Because if I try, I would make a fool of myself
And I've had enough of that
But I guess you caught me when I let my guard down for only a split second
I guess you saw something in my glassy eyes
That made you think that you want to get to know this person—
And that was a bad idea
Because when you started to get to know me, I started to believe again.
