Ch 100 (colin)- Closer Baby, Closer

Start from the beginning

Noises floated into Colin's head as he struggled to wake from whatever faded nightmare he had. Even though they were details he couldn't recall, the sweat on his body told him his dreams were indeed restless. The voices floated around his bedroom this time and Colin blinked his eyes. He didn't have to wait long to listen as the voices sounded more solid and he had a direction for which they were coming from. The cracks under his door allowed for Nate and Harmony's tones to reach his ears which told him their volume was too high for a discussion but was the perfect level for an argument.

Colin sat up in bed and fought his nauseous stomach that seemed to at times even make his brain sick. It was a several moments before he could stand up and dress himself. Colin looked out his window and saw that it was getting dark. Shocked he had slept so late in the evening, he headed towards his door with a hurry in his step. There was no lessening of the argument below nor the noise between Nate and Harmony.

Colin opened his bedroom door and had to cover his ears. He tried to adjust to the transition of whispers of the carpet with each step he took to the loud megaphone voices that drowned out clear words. He made his way downstairs adjusting to the light and noise of life before he reached the kitchen. Harmony's face was wet but what surprised him most was the tone with which Nate carried as he tried to calm her down and shove reason down her throat. A look of panic flashed across his face as he caught sight of Colin.

They both froze their posture as Colin walked into the kitchen. He could tell by their silence and the looks on their faces that they didn't realized they were loud enough to alert him.

"Sorry, we didn't mean to wake you." Nate said staring at Colin as he had never done before. He knew his son was trying to tell him something without alerting Harmony.

"Harmony, you need to tell Colin everything that happened." Nate said turning to her then back to staring again at Colin. He looked at Harmony who had obviously been crying and seemed reluctant to tell him something of importance. That almost made Colin smile because he knew she was finding bravery in herself to tell on her best friend. Colin assumed the information Harmony had could only be about Anna.

"You're going to be mad but I am worried about Anna now. I just waited long enough to head up here because I had lied to someone. That way I wouldn't look guilty as I would have if I showed up earlier." Harmony said looking at Colin with a look of begging for understanding in her eyes. He felt confused and knew this was going to be something heavy.

Colin turned around in the kitchen, grabbed a plate of sweat treats and three glasses which he poured milk into each one. He gestured for her to eat a fluffy donut before she talked, and he was glad to have something to focus on before she started her flow of words. Colin knew he was going to have to pay attention to each one with a straight face. Nate focused on his food as well, avoiding both of their eyes. Colin was grateful for the chance to wake up so he could prepare his expressions while Harmony talked.

"Why don't you start from the beginning." Colin encouraged. "I promise you are still coming to the island with us no matter if I get angry or not." Harmony looked grateful. Colin almost laughed.

"Well as you know that last Friday Anna met that guy Ryan at the bar." She looked at Colin and he recalled their conversation they day before when he found her in his bed.

"Go on." Colin said. Harmony started to rush and he knew it would be over in a minute so he could stop reacting to her news.

"We know Ryan was surprised it wasn't her, and not me. Jolene was the one that slapped Anna and then was murdered later that night. Anna came home and we went to Bryce's party the next day because I wanted her to feel better. At the party is where she met Jake, but his sister Stacy we have known all through high school. Anna told me she was traveling with you." Harmony said pointing to Colin knowing he had this information but wanted to refresh the facts.
