My voice rings out as I sing the last note of our song, Just One Yesterday (I know that's Fall Out Boy, but for this fic I'm going to be using their songs). "YES! OUR FIRST SONG!" Rose, my best friend yells with joy, jumping up and down with her bass. I smile at her.
"Yeah!" Ethan and Grayson high five each other. Ethan puts his guitar down as Grayson comes out from behind his drumset. "Can we show your family yet, Mara?" Grayson whines.
"Yeah. Well. No. Wait. Yeah. Wait. Yeah," I answer, still unsure of my decision.
"Is that your final answer?" Rose asks jokingly. I nod.
"Then go get them!" Ethan yells at me.
"Okay, okay. Geez." I walk out of the garage where we practice, and into the living room where my parents, grandparents, and great uncles are.
"Hey, kiddo. What's up?" My Grandpa Gerard asks.
"Well, we just finished perfecting a song that we wrote, and we were wondering if you might want to hear it, maybe?" I ask them timidly.
"Hell yeah!"
"Frank! You can't use language like that! Honey, your father and I would love to, but we have to go to the airport now," my mom says apologetically. "But your Uncles Ray and Mikey, along with your grandpas would love to! Anyways, bye sweety." She kisses my forehead and leaves.
"Bye, Munchkin. See you when we get back." My dad ruffles my hair, and walks out the door, shutting it behind him. I walk out to the garage, my family following me.
"Ready?" I ask the band as I pick up my guitar (I'm lead singer and rhythm guitarist). They nod. And I start. "I thought of angels
Choking on their halos
Get them drunk on rose water
See how dirty I can get them
Pulling out their fragile teeth
And clip their tiny wings
Anything you say can and will be held against you
So only say my name
It will be held against you
Anything you say can and will be held against you
So only say my name
If heaven's grief brings hell's rain
Then I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)
I want to teach you a lesson in the worst kind of way
Still I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)
For just one yesterday
Letting people down is my thing baby
Find yourself a new gig
This town ain't big enough for two of us
I don't have the right name
Or the right looks
But I have twice the heart
Anything you say can and will be held against you
So only say my name
It will be held against you
Anything you say can and will be held against you
So only say my name (name)
If heaven's grief brings hell's rain
Then I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)
I want to teach you a lesson in the worst kind of way
Still I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)
For just one yesterday
If I spilled my guts
The world would never look at you the same way
And I'm here to give you all of my love
So I can watch your face as I take it all away
