She never had expected to survive the war, or for this long to be honest. She didn't enjoy being a violent person, but in this cruel world; Lucy had to be.
Before the war, she grew up in Australia. Her family were hunters, so she at least knew how to fight, but she didn't enjoy it. Killing just wasn't for her; also why she was more of fixing things such as the guns or knives.
Lucy's parents died when she was a young age; with her older sister away for studies overseas, so Lucy had to be taken care of from her uncle and aunt. She headed to America to look for her sister, but to this day she still hasn't found her.
Lucy strode through a deserted field, her long blonde hair straying in the hot wind and her leather jacket sticking to her skin. Lucy glanced down at the map in her hands, then back up at her surroundings.
"Fuck." She groans. "I'm lost."
Lucy continues to walk around aimlessly, tying up her blonde hair to keep it out of her face.
"If I was Maddie, where would I be?"
Lucy hates walking, but Mortality and other gangs had the only modes of transport. Of course she could join a gang, it would help her survive, but she didn't enjoy killing for fun.
Lost in thought, Lucy continued striding around until she stepped on something under a tree. With a gun pointed at her face; Lucy stumbles back.
"Sorry mate, didn't see ya there." She apologizes. But the man under the tree just looked at her with disinterest, about to pull the trigger.
"Um... okay then," Lucy quivers and turns around. "Guess I'll be off then."
"What are you doing out here?" His voice is cold, devoid of emotion. Lucy turned to face him.
"Me?" She asks dumbly, then realizes there was no one else around. "Well, honestly mate; I got no bloody clue. I'm kinda like a dingo lost in the desert, but not a dingo or in a desert."
"Being lost out here is dangerous," he says unamused. "You'll be hunted."
"Look, I don't want anything to do with this war you guys are having... So for now I'm just gonna head up somewhere where none of you or your friends find me." Lucy turns on her heel. "So, sorry about stepping on ya before.. I'll be off now."
"There's no where out there where you can't be found." The emotionless man stood. "The world isn't safe anymore..."
"I figured.." Lucy sighs. "But why are ya helping me? From what I've seen from Americans so far they don't like to help others."
"...Come on, the city is this way, I'll take you there."
"Alright then," She folds up her map and follows behind the stranger, with her hand on her knife in case anything happens. Lucy noted that the cold voiced man kept her in his range of sight.
"What's your name?" He finally spoke after some silence.
"It's Lucy, what about yours?"
"I go by... Marcus." Lucy heard the hesitation in his voice, he was hiding something.
"Well, Marcus, nice to meet you." She looks up at the man in front, taking note of his appearance. White hair, muscular but lean, brown eyes with hints of green, and black clothes.
Lucy looked past him and saw a woman, with two braids and a shotgun heading this way.
"Um... one of your many friendly friends..?" Lucy glances at Marcus then back at the lady.
"No...." The lady approaches and we all stop, switching looks between each other. Lucy steps forward and breaks the overwhelming tension.
"So uh... hello there friendly friend.." She says awkwardly. "Mind if we uh.. walk past in a.. y'know, a peaceful manner?"
"Umm... sure..?" The lady speaks and Lucy happily continues walking along. The stranger looks at Lucy then at Marcus. Marcus follows after Lucy, taking caution when walking by the person.
A loud gunshot goes off, Lucy freezes in place and watches Marcus run off in-front of her. Lucy turns and sees the stranger lady is still alive.
"Well..." Lucy says as she recovers from the gunshot. "Looks like I'm not going that way." She turns and heads off in the opposite direction. The lady following her.
"W-where are you going..?" The stranger asks. Lucy quickly turns, pulling out her knife about to slit the lady's throat. Until she realizes it's her.
"Oh... Um, no idea actually..." Lucy sheathes her knife. "Wherever I end up."
Another gunshot goes off, and Lucy looks around, starting to get paranoid.
