"Are you hungry?" Y/N's quiet voice sounded for the first time since we stepped out of the hospital. My head snapped in her direction at the raspiness that I learned to love to hear. I shrugged my shoulders with a small smile but when Y/N rose her eyebrow I nodded my head bashfully. The taller girl tugged on my hand as we carefully crossed the street where a large breakfast diner stood, it being crowded with larger families. When we walked in and waited to be seated I looked over towards the patient to see her eyes trained on a family, the two siblings running around their parents' feet as the little boy tried to catch his sister. Y/N's eyes held a sense of longing in them but this girl never showed any emotion on her face, everything she was feeling could only be conveyed in her dark eyes. Her lips were slightly parted but as the host came to seat us next she was knocked out of her daze, her mouth closing into a thin line as she blinked several times in quick succession. I followed the host as the taller girl was still out of it, my hand grasping at hers tightly to make sure nothing happened. When we reached the table I made sure Y/N was seated before I sat across from her in the small booth.

The Y/H/C haired girl surveyed her surroundings once more with intense precision as if she were in trouble. I smiled slightly before placing my hand on hers, her gaze retreating to meet my own eyes. "Are you going to choose something to eat?" I asked softly causing the taller girl to nod her head bashfully before she picked up the menu in front of her. I couldn't help but giggle as Y/N blushed an even darker red, lifting the menu to cover her face. Our moment was cut short by the waiter coming to take our orders. His stare was making me uncomfortable but I tried to pay it no mind. He took our drink orders before leaving, Y/N eyeing me tentatively. "What?" I asked quietly. She shrugged her shoulders before looking back at her menu. Soon enough the waiter came back and he looked at Y/N to take her order first before he turned to me with a smirk. "Can I just have two pancakes please."

"Are you sure you don't want anything else, beautiful? I'm sure your friend here won't mind paying extra just so you can have what you want." He threw a side glance in Y/N's direction with the same disgusting smirk on his face. I shook my head as Y/N looked unimpressed. "I can just make your meal on the house if you want." I scooted further into the booth to get away from the creep but my head snapped up as Y/N growled lowly.

"She said that's all she fucking wants you dipshit." She glared harshly at the boy. "Get the fuck out of here and do your fucking job." The waiter spared me one last glance before walking away while matching Y/N's glare. I couldn't help but smile at my knight in shining armor. When I saw her anger only increasing I grabbed her hand over the table which made her turn her gaze towards my own eyes. Her breathing slowed down and her hand stopped twitching under my grasp. The Y/E/C color of her eyes started to become lighter compared to the darkness that occurred when she was angry or in a blackout state. I smiled again but the taller girl only looked down at our intertwined fingers. I was pleasantly surprised when she grabbed my hand only to play with my fingers, a concentrated look on her face. I didn't mind at all, it was endearing to see her calming herself down by focusing on me and nothing else but me. My heartbeat picked up and I knew that even though it's only been a couple days my feelings for the younger girl were more than simply platonic or even professional. I also knew it was wrong for me to have feelings for my patient but I just couldn't help it. There was something about her.

The more I looked at the Y/E/C eyed girl the more she resembled a child in all honesty. She played with my fingers with such wonderment and concentration that she had no regard for anything else going on around her. Her hands grasped at my rings and she slowly slid them off before putting them on once again. I didn't have the heart to stop her until the waiter came back, setting my plate down nicely before he basically dropped Y/N's in front of her. The taller girl slowly raised her head to look at him with her eyes narrowed and the top of her lip slightly raised. She gripped onto my hand harder up until the point where the waiter left our table. She rolled her eyes with a sigh before she went back to playing with my hand, completely dismissing the food sitting next to her arm. "Y/N aren't you going to eat?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders without meeting my eyes causing me to sigh. "You have to eat. That's why we're here."
