Chapter 27

Nicki placed the final picture on her bedside table. It was one if her and drake. She smiled as she looked at it before looking around her now complete bedroom. He had arrived in Boston last night and had now finished setting out her stuff in her new apartment that her mother and farther had brought for her. She walked into her living too and took a seat before taking her phone out and dialling Drakes number.

Drake: hello

Nicki: hey

Drake: how are you. How's boston

Nicki: I'm good and I've just finished sorting my apartment. And yourself

Drake: I'm good. I miss you though

Nicki: I miss you too brey. It's gone be weird attending a new school with you not there with me.

Drake: I know nic. You're gonna have to find yourself someone to be your new guardian

They both laughed.

Nicki: yea i am. When you do leave again ?

Drake: on Thursday. I start training Saturday morning.

Nicki: aww look at you all grown and mature

They laughed again.

Drake: I was always grown and mature. I just never really showed it

Nicki: that's fair enough

Drake: I still can't believe you're on your own over there. The worst could happen

Nicki: well I haven't had an anxiety attack in a week so I guess I should be fine as long as I remain calm

Drake: yeah let's hope so. How did Dean take you leaving

Nicki: He cried. Bless him. But I didn't want to leave Diana and she didn't want me to go either bless her.

Drake: aww well I'm sure you're gonna come down to see them or even vice versa

Nicki: yeah of course. But what about you brey. When will I see you

Drake: I don't know nic. It's gonna have to be at some point that both of our hectic calendar allow us to. That could be a few months from now or maybe even a few years. Who knows. For now phone calls and Skype will have to do

Nicki: I guess so. Well I better call Dean and Diana because I haven't spoke to them since I left

Drake: okay. Stay safe. I love you

Nicki: will do and you too. Love you more

With that they hung up. She just felt like crying but she knew it wouldn't do her any good so found the only thing she could do was accept it and go on with life. This was what she wanted but she had never envisioned it this was. She always thought of it to be her and drake forever but remembered she wasn't in a fairytale and that's not how returning worked.

It was Nicki first morning at Harvard. She had just finished getting dressed and was smithing her outfit in the mirror. He motto for this year was 'New Year. New School. New Me.' She had decided that now she was somewhere that nobody knew of her, it was finally her chance to become a better person. To become more self confident and to not let what people say to her get to her. It was all about her. She was distracted by her phone going off and she looked at it to find it was her mother calling her.

Nicki: hello

Carol: hello my love. First day today how are you feeling

Nicki: I'm excited. I feel like it's a new begging for me. Just a chance to focus on my life and not have to worry about what will happen I I go into school today

Carol: well just keep your head held high and don't let anything get to you, you're a scholarship student which means you're one of the best. And stay calm.

Nicki chuckled a little.

Nicki: I will.

Carol: okay baby girl. I'll talk to you later

Nicki: okay ma

Carol: love

Nicki: love you too

With that they hung up. She grabbed her bag and keys and made way to her car, of which had been brought over along with her other stuff over the weekend. She drove to school with a smile on her face ready for whatever was to come her way.

When she arrived she parked her car before taking everything she would need and heading out. Today she had a tour of the university for the first hour just getting herself used to the place and making sure she knows where everything was. She spent a few minutes trying to work out where she was supposed to be. When she finally arrived she found a few other newbees also waiting there. She just went and stood among them as she was never the type to socialise.

Lauren: Hey

Nicki: Hey

Lauren: you a new joiner her as well

Nicki: yeah, moved from Cali

Lauren: oh you must be nicki, I'm Lauren

Nicki: yeah I am. How did you know

Lauren: you're the only scholarship student this year and I had heard about a nicki coming from Cali

Nicki: wow. Did know that many people knew

They both chuckled a little. They engaged in a little conversation as they waited for their you guide. They were soon joined by someone who Lauren knew but nicki hadn't met yet.

Lauren: This is Nicki.

Safaree: hey I'm Safaree.

He reached out for her to shake his hand and that's exactly what she did. And just like that you could see a connection between them of some sort.
