Chapter 39: A Glimpse Of The Future

Start from the beginning

"Come on let's go to bed" Sid said snaking his arm around my neck. We walked into his bedroom where I quickly changed into short and crawled under the covers. Sid joined me, I turned facing him, feeling his warm breath against my face.

"Rise and shine guys!" yelled Taylor as she marched into our room. I began looking around, stretched my arms and than laid my head back on Sid's chest.
"Few more minutes" I mumbled
"No the cup will be here in 10 minutes!" she said walking out of the room
"Shit" mumbled Sid who began to get up off the bed and I followed after him.
"We have to hurry up" he said in his morning raspy voice.

I walked over to my luggage and grabbed a pair of shorts to slip on along with blue peplum tank top. I walked into the bathroom and pulled my hair to the side and finished brushing my teeth and did my makeup. When I came out Sid was dressed in his jean shorts and his jersey.
"Are you ready?" he asked smiling at me
"I'm so excited you don't even know"

We headed downstairs were Trina and Troy were sitting at the counter eating breakfast. I quickly made myself a waffle and once I was done a car pulled up in front of the house.
"It's here!" called Sid as he walked through the from door. I followed close behind with Taylor and we watched as two men with white gloves rolled out a silver case. They unsnapped the buckled revealing the beautiful Stanley Cup.

Sid was smiling from ear to ear and his brown eyes were beaming as he stared at the cup. The men pulled it out of the casing and handed it to Sid who hoisted it above his head. The cameraman snapped a few pictures, than Sid called me over to take pictures. I got to touch Stanley, running my fingers over every grove just felt incredible. I found the old 2009 engraved names and ran my finger over Sid's name.

"Where to first?" I asked Sid
"Were gonna go to my old rink, they have a whole bunch of kids lined up there" When we got to the rink all the teams that played there were waiting out on the ice as Sid walked the cup out. There faces lit up as their eyes laid on the cup. Sid gave a heartwarming speech to the kids to never give up and keep working. I couldn't be prouder of him and how down to earth he was. The next stop was a parade through cole harbor in a convertible. People flooded the streets to just get a glimpse of the cup. The parade was an amazing scene, riding through the streets while pieces of black, white and gold confetti feel down on us.
"This is insane" I said laughing as I rested my head on his shoulder
"I know, I didn't think this many people would show up"
"Your thee Sidney Crosby, the'd come even if you didn't have the cup"
"I don't know about that" he said kissing my lips

Next was watching Sid play a game of street hockey with a couple of his buddies. I couldn't help but laugh as they made him play goalie because it wouldn't be fair if he was a foward. The best part about this game was that Lord Stanley was the prize. Sid was actually a decent goalie which surprised me. I was mesmerized watching Sid smile, it never left his face. After all the festivities, the last one surprised me the most.

We headed up, with Sid's family, to his house on a near by lake.
"Why didn't you ever tell me you had a house?" I whispered to Sid in the car
"You never asked" he whispered back
"Why don't we stay there?"
"It's almost finished, when we were here for Christmas it had a gaping hole in the wall, I don't think you would've wanted to stay there" he laughed
"Whatever" I said rolling me eyes and laughing

The house was a tiny bit smaller than the one in Pittsburgh but you could barley tell. I knew why Sid didn't want us staying here as soon as we walked in the door. The house was completely empty. The kitchen was done but didn't have chairs, the living room and dinning room was completely empty. I walked up the grand stair case, that came down to the front door, and went up to the bedrooms. The master bedroom was absolutely breath taking. It had a beautiful view of the lake and was really spacious.

Sid had really out done himself with the house and I couldn't wait to see the house finished. After the house tour I met Sid outside and by the lake where he was standing on a rock with the cup above his head and the beautiful sunset in the background. We snapped beautiful pictures and I even got one with Sid and the cup to.
We finally finished up our day with the cup and we're back at Trina & Troy's house.

"What a crazy day" I said getting into the bed
"Move over we have a guest" he laughed rolling the cup into the bed.
"You've got to be joking" I laughed
"Nope! she leaves in the morning and you never know when the next time I get to sleep with her will be"
"Well than" I said shifting
Sid got in bed and tucked the cup under the covers with us.
"Sid?" I whispered
"Ya?"
" I really like the house"
"I've been meaning to ask you about that"
"What do you wanna ask?"
"Will you help me decorate it, I want it to be our house"
"Sid it's your house, you payed for it but I'll help decorate for you"
"No I want it to be our house where we'll come in the summer with our kids. Where we can sit on the patio and watch them play in the pool with the beautiful lake in the back, where we can go boating and than in the winter have a game of pond hockey. I want it to be ours, after all your gonna be my wife"

I could envision him with his crooked smile as he looked up at the ceiling.
"I'd like that, I'd like that a lot."
