Fire.
Crackling.
Spitting flames statically.
The natural embodiment of the beast itself.

What I saw that day was a devil being unleashed.

Water. I need water.
I sat up breathless, breathing heavily from another nightmare. But this time it was more real. I could feel the fire engulfing my body, I could feel my flesh melting off my bones. I was burning alive - and I loved it.

Although, I wasn't really.

Mom : Another nightmare.
Me : Another day you chose not to knock.
Mom : [Rolls eyes] What was your nightmare about now.
Mom : Your Dad getting a new job?
Mom : [Guffaws] Silly me that's not a nightmare! That's a good dream.
Me : What are you insisting Mother --
Mom : Emphasis on "Dream"
Mom : Chances of that happening is very, very low.
Me : Dreams do come true.
Mom : [Sighs] Well not my dreams...

There was a long pause.

Mom : Get dressed. Breakfast is on the table.
Me : I'll see you down.

She turns around and leaves with a phone to her ear. There wasn't a time Mom wasn't on the phone. Being a full-time doctor whilst providing for our family kept her occupied. My Dad used to be in her position, well until he got fired from his job. And then he fell into a state of depression, he couldn't - or wasn't, the man he used to be.
And day by day, he would lie on the coach, wearing that same blue cardigan, with that same blue expression. Sulking. He had too much time on his hands when my Mother had none.

Now, where is my Diary?

Monday Morning 02/09
Two semesters just isn't enough.
I'm running out of time.
After this year.
He's gone.
Should I allow him to leave without knowing my name?
Or should I make him stay with my name forever on his lips?

I'm tired of watching him from afar.
It's time he watches me.

[Phone rings]
Phone : Missed call from K.

What does she want? It's literally fucking 7 in the morning.

Kristy : Kenny don't come downstairs --
[Phone cuts off]

Meanwhile In the kitchen downstairs.

Mom : [shouting] I do everything here! I provide for this family.
Dad : [Shouting even louder] Don't forget the times where I provided before.
Mom : Before you lost your job!
Dad : It wasn't my fault I lost my job.
Mom : [Raising voice] Oh I'm sorry.
Mom : I'm sorry you had an --
Dad : [Loudly whispering] Kenny's upstairs!
Mom : Why are you so reluctant to expose how BAD OF A FATHER you really are!
Dad : [At the top of his lungs] I'm not a BAD FATHER.

Okay play times over. I'm interrupting their lovers conflict.

Me : I'm skipping breakfast.
Dad : Good you need to watch your weight.
Me : Daddy!
Dad : No I mean your perfect the way you are sweet pea.
Mom : Enough chit-chat then, let's go Kenny.
Dad : I'm driving her to school.
Mom : With what car.
Dad : Well my car --
Mom : No, you mean my car.
Dad : For fucks sake let the girl decide.
Me : I'd rather not.
Me : [Whistles] Come on Kristy we're walking!
Mom : Walking? Oh God no!
Dad : You've never walked in you life --
Mom : We'll order you a cab.
Me: [Walking away] Too late, I've already started!

I grab Kristy and haul her towards the door. Whilst peeking behind my shoulder, a tear rolled down my mothers cheeks. What's happened to my family? Isn't Mom happy? Why did Daddy really get fired?

Kristy : They're arguing.
Me : [Sharply] They never argue.
Me : [Defensively] My parents love each other.
Kristy : [Concerned tone] This morning I overheard --
Me : [With authority] I allow you to eat breakfast with my family [Snarly] Not to integrate my family.
Kristy : [Upset] I'm sorry.
Me : [Half sympathetic] Don't be sorry.
Me : [Hands on hips] Just be grateful once in a while.

And hand in hand we walked to the Taxi in front of us. You didn't think I was going to actually walk?

I'm Kenny Richmond.

I'm too rich too walk.
