chapter 1: A new start

I'm at the airport waiting for my mom to pick me up. she texted me saying she would be hear a little late.

The last time I had seen her was when I was ten years old. I used to live with her but for some reason she had sent me to live with my dad so í only lived with her for two years. I was always closer to my dad anyway so it didn't bother me.

its been six years since í last saw her. we talk on the phone once and while and í only seen her in photos or when we FaceTime. the only thing i know about her is that she got remarried two years after getting divorced with my dad. she has a son named David who's three years old and her husband has a daughter that is sixteen just like me and her name is Melony. So it looks like i have two half siblings.

i hear someone shouting my name i turn around to see who it is. "Miranda! Miranda over hear!" Its a middle aged women who I'm guessing is my mom.

As í walk towards her i notice that she doesn't look as old as í thought she would. her dark brown hair is longer then í remember and her light brown eyes are filled with unshed tears and she has a big smile on her face. "hey mom." i say as í hug her i can't help but feel a little awkward in hugging her.

"Hey i missed you so much!! Oh my you have grown so much! You look prettier then í remembered!! I'm sorry for being late sweety." Her words full of excitement and happiness. "it's okay mom and umm yea its umm good to be back here here with you mom" i say as she finally lets me go and I'm able to breath again. she wipes her eyes quickly and takes one of my suitcases.

"lets go to the car you must be tired" we walk to the car its a simple car a silver ford. í love Ford's. We put the suitcases in the back and get in the car.

My mom had made small talk but after half an hour or so we were greeted with awkward silence.

I had some questions to ask my mom and we were here alone in the car, I guess it's a better time then never.

"hey mom do you know why my dad sent me hear to live with you? I'm not complaining or anything í just want to know why he made me move all of a sudden you know?"

her smile leaves her face and she stays looking at the road and it takes a while for her to finally answer, "Are you comfortable with me calling you Em, me and your father used to always call you em when you were younger"

A smile grows on her face and on mine as well i can't help but smile at the thought that she still remembers. "yea you can and he still does and í like the nickname as well."

"well then Em we can talk about this later if you want, for now just enjoy the new change in your life, you can think about it as a new start." A new start why would í need a new start? i don't say nothing í just nod and smile like she said we can talk about it later.
