STRINGS

"I wonder why people meet people." I purred that one time we were sitting under the lone centenial tree.

He looked at me, the same look he always give me everytime I say something weird. The look of interest on his face was there, his eyes seemed lost as the thoughts crept in his mind.

Then he smiled.

A sincere one that reached his eyes.

"Why are you smiling?" I asked, my face twisted in fake disappointment  as I grinned at him.

"I do not know exactly," his gaze was fixed at me. "But I'd like to keep it that way. Not knowing why, I mean." he averted his gaze and focused on the stars up in the sky.

"Why?" I asked, looking at how the wind tosses his hair.

"Every single thing is accompanied with reason," he whispered loud enough for me to hear. "But meeting you, knowing you, being with you," he faltered as he gazed down at me.

"I believe it was meant to be."
