Emmet's POV

My mother sits high up in her throne, a frown clearly displayed across her face, deep in thought while still listening to other royals argue among each other. I too, am silent in the throne room, staying close to my mother while trying to drown out the arguements below us, unintrested. Word has spread quickly among the royal families that my father has been consumed by the power of the Dark Pearl, that their king has gone mad which brought along the Elder's arrival. Some also believe my sister Opal, who has gone missing, purposely left and plans to betray her own kingdom.

"You dare say that about our dear princess infront of her own mother and brother? I say she has been taken away, being held captive somewhere in the depths of the ocean." A violet haired royal who is my mother's older brother barks out above the others. "War is coming and we cannot stop it!" He yells with passion and his voice filled with authority due to being a member on the counsel.

Another royal, whom I have never seen before, with shining green eyes and pale blonde hair screams over my cousin. "I believe you are to be just as mad. Calling forth an army to fight who? The Dark race has been destroyed, they aren't coming back!" My uncle looks at the young royal in surprise who only raises his chin to futher challenge him.

"How is this possible? How could it be coming back?" A princess from the Southern Oceans says nervously, "Our clans are already weak, could we survive a war in a time like this? What about the prophecy, could it be starting to come true? The Elder is here, she must know what to do!"

I look up sharply at her words, not many remember the prophecy nor do they know about Charlie and Radiance. After a moment of silence, the older royals laugh and dismiss her words calling it a child's tale. The young princess falls silent once more, allowing her older brothers resume the heated debate. My mother and I exchange a releved glance.

Looking up I catch the gaze of the Elder, watching me with curious eyes. I give her a slight bow, showing her my respect and she gives a slight nod. Although she is wise, she remains silent among the debates as she says she will not aid in the decisions of the kingdoms.

Even though she is beneith a shadow she still shines from a glow that seems to follow her where ever she goes. Her tail is almost twice as long as any other tail and shines a stunning gold which contasts sharply with her stunning black hair. You almost can't see her mate's markings but it's there among other marks very similar to Charlie's.

My mother places a hand on my shoulder and gives me a knowing look. Her eyes hold a deep sadness and a silent moment passes between us before I leave to go find Aurora. I find my sister easily as she has not left her room for the past several days except only for food. I pause at the enterance of her room, my heart feeling like a soild stone in my chest before entering.

She is sitting on Charlie's empty bed looking out the window but not really looking at anything. It has been four days since we have lost Charlie and my sister seems to be the most affected. Saddnes lingers in everything she does, even the way she moves show that she is drowning in grief. Her smile that she always wears has vanished without a trace and with no hope of ever returning. I too am stricken with saddness over Charlie. I had lost my mate already, I had failed to protect her and whats worse is that I had betrayed her.

Her face haunts my dreams, constantly burning in the back of my mind how her face twisted in pain and shock when the truth came out in the light. Whats worse is that I felt the bitter sting of betrayal through our connection and I still feel it every day burning through my veins. I failed to protect her in everyway possible and now she's lost to us.

I hear Aurora take in a shuttering breath before breaking down into tears that are sweapt away from the ocean's water. Her shoulders shake as she tries to hold back her pain and sorrow for she too had a special bond with Charlie. Aurora's head bows in shame, guilty with the belief that she is responsible for this since she was the one who first changed her.

I pull my sister in a tight hug and she sobs into my chest, grieving for her lost friend. Even Radiance is going through her own turmoil, guilty about the times she was so harsh to our friend, to my mate. Aurora continues to cry but slowly they start to fade as she cries herself to sleep in my arms. I feel my own hot tears build in my eyes but I blink them away as my soul cries out for Charlie.

With the loss of Charlie, it seems as if everything else is lost too.
