wow, first entry. here I'm going to introduce Oliver, one of my fav OCs!! 

yes im aware he looks suspiciously like gerard way.... it was an accident i swear

anyways, here's his face!! he's a fairly feminine boy, and does like some "girly" things, but fully identifies as a cis male. he's really gay tho. he has a boyfriend named Finn that I'll introduce in the next entry!

oliver is a vampire! in the current universe/story he's in, he is the youngest of two sons of the head of a major record company. he has one older brother, Ethan, who is 218, while oliver himself is only 22. In this universe, vampires that are born age at the same rate as humans up until about 18-28 years, when their growth "pauses". it actually just slows down, but it's so slow that they appear to have frozen in time. oliver paused at about 19, though with his natural baby face and fairly feminine attributes, he looks like 16, and will remain that way for a long-ass time. 

though oliver's family is very rich, due to his father's company, he doesn't like to be spoiled, and he isn't very greedy or pompous at all. he has a job at a local bookstore because he likes to provide for himself as much as possible. he's also living alone (well he has a dog, but most people dont see Poppy as an actual roommate) in a modest apartment just as few blocks down from his workplace. his neighbor, Dallas, is a very old and slightly grumpy vampire in his late 1200s, who appears to be a 30 year old man, instead of a centuries old one. he's a little hard to break the ice with, and tends to be fairly standoffish, but oliver is just too lovable to be mean to, so they're pretty good friends, even though dallas is frustrated with oliver trying to set him up with the cute-but-deadly Rydia, another neighbor of theirs.

anyways, i should probably explain a bit about the world they live in. it's pretty much modern, in terms of technology and entertainment, but vampires are the dominant species. humans either live among vampires in lower class neighborhoods, or in the various human-only towns (vampires technically can go in them, but they tend to stay away unless they have an actual reason to be there that is job-related). all humans with good blood (no diseases, enough iron, not too thick, etc) have to give blood once a month to be used as food supply for their vampire overlords,, i mean,, "friends". some humans sign contracts with a vampire to become a sort of "blood slave" (still working on an actual term) for them in return for something like money or protection for their family. some do it just because they have nothing to live on (no house, food, etc) and being a slave to a vampire means you live with them and are taken care of by them (some take better care than others) and the vampire can feed directly from you whenever they please. a rare few humans also do it just because they are fascinated by vampires and romanticize them. most vampires, after acquiring a human, thrall them (basically hypnotize them except longterm. they vampire has complete control over the human, and the human has very limited free will/emotions. thralling is not only convenient for vampires for obedience, but also for the fact that, once thralled, a human doesn't need as much food and water to survive, as their decrease in brain activity causes a decrease in energy needed throughout the day to sustain themselves). though some vampires won't thrall their human(s) simply because they find it slightly annoying to have a practically mindless zombie following them around everywhere, and it's much more entertaining to have at least some personality to come with their food.

if a vampire goes without any blood for too long, they get extremely weak. vampires can actually die from lack of blood, as it is their only source of energy. they can eat regular food, though they normally only do it for special occasions because it tastes good. digesting and going to the bathroom is just so annoying. vampires do need water in addition to blood, as the blood they drink doesn't actually have enough water in it to keep them hydrated and functioning. 

in this universe, vampires can see themselves in mirrors, but not photographs. they do have to be invited into a home, but not other buildings/areas. they can turn humans into vampires, though it doesn't happen often so they can avoid overpopulation. also, vampires who were turned and not born are often looked down upon, and seen as "impure". vampires have superior strength and senses, but not like monstrously so. they can't turn invisible or fly. they can hypnotize humans, but it's only short-term unless they're thralled. vampires dont combust in sunlight, though they can get really bad sunburns if they stay out too long. that, along withtheir natural night vision, make them tend to be nocturnal, though most vampire stores and such are open 24 hours. 

anyways, more about oliver himself.

oliver is quite shy around new people, due to him having general anxiety, but once he's comfortable around you he's very talkative, and gets very passionate about the things he loves. he likes art a lot, and really wants to be a painter. he's going to art school in a fairly large vampire city called Vlandra (think like modern day NYC). he is all about equality and stuff, and has strong views about human equality, though he tends not to share those with other vampires except for dallas. he loves animals and nature, and loves to take walks in the park in the early morning, before the sun rises and burns him like hell. he is really bad at cooking, but luckily finn is really good! oliver likes to clean and stuff, he's kind of a neat freak, but not obsessively so. he normally doesn't eat human food, but he has a soft spot for gummy bears, so he'll get those to treat himself every now and then. being the sweetheart that he is, when he has free time, oliver will volunteer at the local animal shelter! he loves being around all the doggies and kitties. yes.

okay, i've been talking for a while now, im gonna get to work on a drawing of finn because i want to introduce him next! tell me what you guys think of oli and the universe! i always love feedback and suggestions!
