Ch.20

I pull into the school and park in the front... perfect 4:00 just on time. I hear the school bell ring and a bunch of kids run out to the busses. I walk inside quickly to Emma's room. I knock on the door and the teacher opens it.

J: Hello, im Joey Graceffa, father of Emma Graceffa. I'm here to pick her up.

Teacher: oh she is over there coloring, I'm just going to say this but she is the best kid I've ever had. John forgot his lunch at home so she shared with him, she is the student of the week! So she won a glitter pen, stickers, and a box of crayons

J: aww, guess being a single parent for 4 years worked off

I walk into the class room and there is like only like 5 kids in there. I look in the corner and see Emma talking to a girl her age, a little taller, blonde pig tales, piercing blue eyes, and very skinny.

I walk over to Emma and her friend, to see if we can arrange something.

J: hey Emma! Who is this?

E: Hi daddy! This is Casey!

J: well hello Casey! I'm Joey, Emma's father. Is your mommy here?

Casey: yeah she is over there talking to the teacher...

I look over and see someone I know... Karina, I forgot she was pregnant in high school. She shakes hands with the teacher and comes over to us.

J: oh my god... Karina?!

K: Joey?!

She hugs me tightly and I hug her back. She pulls away and sighs a little.

J: so how has being a single parent been going?

K: well I'm pretty happy, just kinda a lot to handle you know? So has anyone come into your life, or are you still single?

J: well I'm with daniel again, what a shocker... but another kid is coming, he got the nanny pregnant...

K: wait what?!

J: long story short we all got drunk and I left to buy a puppy... they had sex and boom a baby

K: and you're ok with this?

J: well only because while we were together I got someone pregnant...

K: oh makes sense

I feel a slight tug on my shorts and Emma is staring at me.

E: Daddy?

J: yeah?

E: can I go over Casey's house?

K: well I'm ok with it... only if Joey is ok

J: um yeah, here take my new number so I can pick her up later ok?

She hands me her phone and I update my number. I hand it back and I pick up Emma.

J: let's go...

Karina picks up Casey and we carry them out of the school. She leads me to her car and I set Emma down.

J: are you going to be a good girl?

E: yes daddy...

J: ok good

I kiss her cheek and hug her. I walk over to my car and get her booster seat. Put it in Karina's car and buckle Emma in.

J: have fun!

E: I will daddy

I close the door and wave at them. I walk back to my car and get in. I sigh a little, Emma was the only thing stopping us from fighting... I'm going to get it when I get home...

I look at my phone and see that I have 57 missed calls from Chloe. I roll my eyes and unlock my phone, calling her back...

C: JOEY!

J: yeah what the fuck is wrong?!

C: Daniel did something bad... I mean like bad

J: what the fuck did he do this time?!

C: I think he swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills, I'm not sure though... Joey I'm scared he won't wake up

J: I'm on my way...

I throw my phone on the seat and speed out of the parking lot... why do I always have to fuck everything up? Why do I cause everyone pain? Why does life always hate me?

I speed into the drive way and chloe comes running out of the house. I get out of the car quickly and she pulls me into the bathroom. I look and see Daniel laying in the floor, not breathing, I see a little piece of paper in his pocket so I take it out and open it.

Dear joey,
              I know that I've fucked up bad this time. I know everyone will miss me. I know I shouldn't of done this. I know I fucked chloe over. I know I shouldn't live anymore. Everything in my life sucks right now. Everything sucks in your life right now too. Ive came to the conclusion that I was that reason everything sucks. I know that we never got to say our goodbyes so this is mine. Joey goodbye, I will miss you... I love you, I know you don't love me back anymore and that broke my heart enough for me to do this. I know I was always holding you back for your happiness. When you broke up with me I was so depressed and hated everyday without you. I had a feeling that you were going to break up with me again and I couldn't live without you. Goodbye forever...

I look at the note one more time and see some of his tears on the small piece of paper. I turn it around and see a photo. It's of me and Daniel kissing, I hold the note close to me and kneel down to look at Daniel.

I comb my fingers through his hair and tears run down my face...

J: Daniel? Are you there? Don't die please... you can't die... I can't live without you. Please answer me baby, I love you... I will never stay mad at you. Just please wake up... Daniel?

I put my head on his chest and hear a little heart beat. I gasp and straddle him.

I start pumping his chest, trying to get him to breathe again. I tilt his head back slightly and open his mouth. I put my lips on his and blow into his mouth. I start pumping at his chest mercilessly and start crying harder. I breathe into his mouth again and pull away. I put my head to his chest and I still hear a beat.

I start pumping again and start screaming, "DANIEL WAKE UP PLEASE!" I pump one last time and I put my head to his chest against I feel him breathing.

J: Daniel... wake up please, I need you.

Daniels eyes flutter open and I collapse on his chest. I start crying into his shoulder and he sits up, while holding me. I pull away and look him in the eyes.

J: Daniel you tried to kill yourself

D: I know, I thought you would be better without me

J: I'm not complete without you Daniel... don't ever do that! Don't ever think about that!

I hug him again and a 2 paramedics come rushing into the bathroom.

J: he is ok now....

X: wait how?

J: I gave him CPR...

X: good job, and don't ever. Ever swallow a thing of sleeping pills, every one knows down at the hospital what this young man has been through. He doesn't need anymore, got it?

D: got it...

They walk out of the room and keep the door open. Chloe comes running into the bathroom to see if everything is ok herself.

C: what happened?!

D: Joey saved me...

J: why wouldn't i? I love you

D: I love you too

I press my lips on his and kiss him. He kisses back, I pull away because chloe is watching us... something actually went right for once... I saved the love of my life.
