Let me be honest, I didn't like everyone in school. Being some of the few Hispanics, I had my ways.
Sometimes, well, everyone treated me like shit. The people in my school got aggravated when we talked in Spanish, they always said 'this America we talk English'. Explain Justin Beiber singing Despacito.
Anyway let's just say I didn't really like anybody.
"Mariana!" My mom screams.
I groan and jump out of bed. I take a really quick shower. When I'm done I look at myself in the mirror. I wasn't really skinny, I had fat thighs, I had a little stomach fat I had to work on. I wasn't really your Victoria's Secret model.
You could say I was thick compared to the other girls in my school. You will think I would get the boys because of my body. Wrong!
I looked at my brown eyes, almost looking black. I didn't really like my eyes either. Not that brown eyes are bad, it's just mine look black.
Then there's my hair. Probably the only thing I liked about myself. It was a brown, it only showed when I was in the sun looking a little golden, long and straight. I was either told I had really pretty hair or if I have weave. True story.
"Mariana tienes diez minutos!" My mom yells. (You have ten minutes.)
"Ya voy!" I yell back. I quickly put something on and leave my hair down. I grab my bag while I brush my teeth, slipping my phone in my pocket at the same time.
I rinse out my mouth and head to the kitchen.
"Good morning." I say while grabbing something to eat.
"Hurry before your late." Me and mom where different she had high cheek bones. She didn't need makeup to make them look good. We had the same exact brown eyes instead hers were a light brown. My mom was olive skinned while I had well I was just dark (not that dark) like carmel.
I rush out the door seeing my friend Finn there. I liked Finn, he had a rich accent, soothing really. He had dark blue, almost black. He had freckles on the bridge of nose and cheeks.
"Hey!" He smiles, "Ready?"
"Obviously.." I roll my eyes playfully.
I hop in his car and we head to the school listening to music on the way.
---
I walk to the locker seeing my best friend, Astrid.
"Did you hear?! Ky is having another party! And he invited me!" She squeals. Me and Astrid where different. She was really outgoing girl. Smiled a lot, and I mean a lot. Was known around the school. Popular really. Not because she was pretty or dated even single guy in school, but because she was super nice and liked by everyone.
"And?" I say shoving my book in the locker.
"This is Ky, Mar! His parties are legendary." She chirps.
"Wow! So cool!" I say sarcastically.
"At least act like you care!"
"I hope you have an amazing time!" I say mimicking Astrid. She punches my arm and I laugh.
"I'm kidding, As." I laugh.
"Please don't call me that. It sounds like ass." She says.
"But that's what you are!" I joke, tilting my head to the side.
"Ha ha. Hilarious." She rolls her eyes.
I slam my locker and adjust my bag.
"Look there's Ky." She whispers.
"Your sound like you like him." I say wiggling my eyebrows. She shoves my arm.
"Hey Astrid, hola Mariana." Ky says walking by.
"Just because I'm Mexican you don't have to say hola. " I yell at him. Honestly it kinda aggravates me.
He looks at me and grins. I roll my eyes.
"Come on lets get to class." Astrid says grabbing my arm.
----
"Your late again, Xavier." My teacher say, frowning at Xavier.
"I've noticed." He replies bluntly.
Today me,Astrid, and Finn sat in the back like we always did. I had an empty seat next to me, and then I felt the presence next to me. Cliché, I know.
"Now you look to the person next to you. That's your partner. Now begin."
Astrid was partnered with Finn. Guess who I had? Yep, Xavier freaking McCoy.
"So are we starting or not, Mexican?" If I could choke someone right now it would be Xavier. What if I wasn't Mexican? Are you assuming my race?
"I have a name." I say, clenching my jaw.
"I know, Mexican." He smirks.
"Fuck you.." I mutter.
"Eh, maybe next time." My face heats up. Thankfully it isn't noticed.
This going to be great.
--
"So you and Xavier?"
I choke on my water and wipe my mouth.
"No."
"Aww co-"
"No." I reply again taking another bite of my burger.
Astrid looks at Finn and he just chuckles and shrugs.
"Someone looking at you real hard." Finn says, grabbing a chip trying not to make it look noticeable.
"Who?" Astrid says, looking around.
"Stop you'll make it noticeable that we are looking for them." I hiss at them.
"Vanessa."
I immediately turn around and catch her staring at me. I roll my eyes at her and turn back around.
"What the hell!" Astrid yells.
"What song do you want me to play at your funeral?" Finn says.
Someone taps my shoulder. When I turn around something pours down on me.
This bitch.
