"Maria, come on, you have to pick someone that could potentially be your partner. All these hot underworld men---werewolves, vampires, demons! You could have that heat if you wanted."

Eno jumped around in front of me while squeeling. She was supposed to make me become more soft and open. Guard me, protect me, but that never worked out.

An early birthday present, Dr. Arkwright said, an early birthday present. Yeah, a birthday present that's annoying as heck. I don't need someone to help me.

"Shutup, Eno."

Eno ran in circles and whined like a puppy dog, almost confirming that she was a child at heart. A child I never planned to raise.

I looked at the AI as she pouted. I went towards the bathroom to change from my uniform into my nightwear. I stood in the clear tube, and the arms of the machine gently changed my apparel.

"Well, you know what happens if you don't."

I was tired of hearing that nonsense. Of course I know what will happen, and I happen to not care right now. I'm not scared of turning to stardust. I hear all of the younger Novas talk about it all the time...

"I swear if I hear one more thing about this picking a partner bull crap, I'll go nuts..."

I stepped out and let the cool breeze from the outside hit my pores.

I love it when it's cold.

"Okay, okay, I'll shut up, but let me say one more thing."

I closed my robe even tighter and glared at Eno. I guess I could listen to a bit more of her blabbering...

"Fine, make it quick."

I snapped my fingers to cue her response. She cleared her throat and I walked over to my fridge to grab a bottle of my energy drink.

"Why don't you want King Vincent to be your partner?"

I nearly spit out my drink and burst into a loud laugh. Was she kidding? I'm not making that bloodthirsty man whore my partner!

"Eno, you HAVE GOT to be kidding me. HIM??"

She sighed and sat on my shoulder, saddened.

"You know, he's the most powerful vampire roaming on Earth, and you're certain you don't want that power to yourself? Every Nova is dying to--"

I plucked her illusion off of my shoulder and snickered. I never cared about those wannabes. Either they try to gain Salem's ability, Fiona's ability, or Suri's ability. And when they can't handle that, they throw a BF. That's why I don't care about them. They're nothing but clingy fan-girls of the First Three Novas.

"Eno, you should know by now, I don't care about what everyone else is doing. As long as I'm happy everything should be okay. Got it? "

She sat on the window sill and nodded.

"I still don't want you to die, Mari-"

Eno was interrupted with a faint knock on the door, she looked at me and accessed the outside cameras from my large dorm room.

"Eno, who is it?"

A familiar voice sounded through the speakers,

"Good evening, Maria."

Speak of the devil, here comes the monster we all know as King Vincent. Yay.

*yawn*

I rolled my eyes and covered up my night gown so he wouldn't drool at the sight of my bare skin. I really don't want to speak to him. But I have to. God dammit, I always have to!
