Of course Medea didn't follow my advice and let me do the talking with the Pantheon. She plowed right in, asking to become a member of the Pantheon and a full god. But I couldn't really blame her. Like it or not, her fate was tied intricately to mine. It was only right she speak up for herself.

But I wasn't surprised when the Pantheon asked for some time alone to discuss her proposition. I could tell she wasn't either, though her shoulders slumped in disappointed. Don't worry, I thought, wishing I could telegraph the words to her. I'll put in a good word for you. Her return smile looked faint as she allowed the Pantheon to push her out of the dreamscape. Like she was already prepping herself for failure.

As soon as Medea left, all eyes turned on me.

Normally I'd squirm under the intensity of their collective gaze, but tonight I found myself grinning.
