The Sparrow's Solace
Little Sparrow, don't you cry
The Lord will break your fearsome ties
Thou bear thy burdens not alone
Angels hold you in your home
Little Sparrow despair thee not
Heaven's breadth unties thy knots
The Lord of hosts knows thy plight
Angels hold thee in heaven's sight
Little Sparrow lift thy beak
The Lord of Hosts thy heart to seek
For in thy hour of hopeless plight
Jesus soothes with healing might
Little Sparrow dry thy tears
Heaven's breath to sooth thy fear
Know thee never perch alone
Heavenly hosts dwell in thy home
Not even the smallest sparrow's plight
Is missed by God's holy sight
So important thy be to all his saints
And love abounds to banish night
Thou art the beautiful daughter of God
So loved by husband, neighbors, flocks of friends
The pain giver banished - one holy nod
Thy chains be loosed, the Lord amends

See the birds of the air:
They do not sow or reap or gather into barns —
Yet your Heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
