Even poor Maria couldn't stand it. The bickering between the soldiers and scientists, not to mention the notorious vampires that had dictated Earth in 3012. In fact, this bickering was because of young Maria. The way she saw things was unclear, she did not understand why they continuously fought over simple things like the amount of blood left for humans, or whether or not humanity deserved to go or stay. Either way, it was all nonsense to the young girl. She had the body that belonged to an ancient Goddess the government found buried deep in the ruins of what was left of Earth. When they revived her original soul with the help of the demons, and blood thanks to the vampires, her mind was erased. There were no memories of what happened when the Goddess was in her first life. Not one percent of personality in her. In turn, Maria was somewhat shallow. She never had too many feelings to experience, especially love. Love was what was needed to find her partner in fighting, the partner that would unleash her true potential and powers. The rest of the girls, who were brought to life, did have a lot of emotion.
"They were more blessed than me", she thought. There would always be irony in those words, since Maria was always considered the blessing to the government. The blue rose, she was, but somehow she was always dipped in deep red if she did just what she was told. She will always be stained with blood from always fighting, and the actions she takes will not be of her own consent.
She is the government's little rat.
As she looks around, she realizes that in all her fourteen years on Earth, a moment like this is worth nothing. Not even if another vampire tried to court her for partnership in between the ruckus everyone in the meeting room had caused. Not even if she walked away. So, she spoke, and a hush spread out across the room.
"Shutup. All of you, SHUTUP!"
People stared. Maria was proud for stopping the chaos and, again, the nonsense. Then the door opened for a very special guest.
" Sorry I'm quite late, but Vincent Von Amstel is here and happy. Hello, Maria, was it?"
A young tall man with light blonde, almost white hair and deep pink eyes had a cheeky smirk plastered on his face. He was, a king. Vincent knelt down to where he was to Maria's stomach, and he looked her from bottom to the top, savoring every sweet detail of her fit body for his brain to keep. He wanted her.
Not love, if you wonder. Power was the key. Vincent had arrived just for her, he heard of her missions and how well she carried out tasks and wished to make her his own. But there was an issue.
"Maria, greet him. Sir Amstel is the king of the greatest and most powerful kingdom of vampires. Do not be impolite."
Maria disliked Vincent.
Maria's groin sure was giving her a sign. The way he looked at her underdeveloped body was disturbing, and her stomach leaped up and flipped around. She had to block out what everyone was saying in order to focus on him. He was acting quite pedophilic. Maria only lived 14 years since being revived, and this man had lived on thousands of years. Doctors who analyzed her had said her original self was around when Vincent first ruled as king, but something was wrong about it all. He already had a sweet tooth for women. What Maria pondered on was if he had an unhealthy craving for her, the way he looked into her eyes. Time passed as she looked at the vampire who was just smiling of unnecessary glee.
"Maria! Please behave. I beg you, Sir Vincent, please excuse her. She's not very good with strangers..."
That, Dr. Arkwright was correct about. Maria did not like strangers, but Vincent was powerful and she could not risk anyone being hurt because of the disgust she had for him.
" It is quite pleasant to meet you,"
She said quite grimly.
"...vampire king Vincent Von Amstel."
The vampire got up from his princely stance and looked around at the worrysome faces, then at dark haired Dr. Arkwright, who was looking through paperwork with beautiful head nurse Miss Perrier, and finally at the girl.
He winked and went towards the scientists who went through collected information Maria had gotten from her last mission. She assasinated members of secret rival companies, criminals and most of all, helped look for a certain unnamed jewel. No Nova, the name of her kind, had found it yet. Novas had been searching for decades. And so had the vampires, oddly. And so, there was a collaboration with the underworld the government made partly for the sake of humanity.
She took it upon herself to leave. She had been taught to do that, after all.
The soldiers accompanied her down the long corridor leading to the dorms. The soldiers worried for Maria, but scientists worried even more. Novas are always bound to find a partner by age 16, and if they cannot find one, they will quickly dissapear and wither away into stardust. There is no certain amount of years a Nova has left after that certain age, because those who hadn't found partners had faded away at different time spans. One legendary Nova, Ivy, faded away along with her sister, named Eve, because they neglected and eventually broke up with their partner. That is why they worry, Maria is one of the top five powerful Novas in the government, the only one without a partner. Novas had to work and explore the world before getting a partner, preferably a vampire. Maria just worked on assignments. And nothing else.
The government wanted to work on changing her-
For the better. They could not waste such a girl as Maria.
She was able to do something special, something other Novas cannot do.
But little Maria knows nothing about that, of course.
