Chapter Seventeen

I make my way down the hall and to the stairs. I climb up then quickly and make it to his floor. I go down the hall to where I think his office is. The third door on the right side of the hallway. I knock and wait a couple second. After getting no response I turn the nob on the door and open it to see that it not an office. It a bathroom. Great, let's try again.

I move to the door to the left so I at the fourth door down. I knock on this one and wait again. This better not be another bathroom I think to myself as I yet again get no response. I turn the nob to this door and it opens. It's really dark and I can't see anything inside it so I take a step forward and run into shelves.

"Damn it. I say as flinch backward. "Why can they have signs on freaking doors that say bathroom, guest room, office!", I say angrily and grab a towel in the closet and throw it as hard as I can back into it. I then slam the door to the closet.

I then go back to where the bathroom was and go to the door on its right side. The second door on the right side of the hallway. I knock on this door and yet again I'm giving no answer. I turn the nob and see that this door open and I see Theo, Creepy Kyle, Max and this other dude. Theo is sitting on the farther side of the tables facing towards the door and away from the window behind him. The rest sit all on the opposite side of the table with the chair towards the window, but all the people in those chairs are facing me and as soon as they all see me they all start dying of laughter.

"What are you laughing at?", I say angrily as I go into the room and shut the door.

"Theo heard you looking for us and we wanted to see how long it would take you to figure out what room was his office and I can I just say the face you made when you came in here.", Creepy Kyle says through his laughter.

Suddenly it like they all notices something except for Theo who is still laughing. "Since when do you laugh?", says the guy I don't know.

"Aww, you haven't been around to see him! He's gotten so soft because he found his mate. Why do you think he actually knows how to form a smile on his face?", Creepy Kyle says to him.

"You didn't tell me you found your mate! I'm your beta and your best friend and you still didn't tell me that you found your mate! I mean you talked about a girl frustrating you, but I didn't think that girl would be your mate.", the guy exclaims.

"That girl has a name and it's Aubrie. Try using it. Now, do you mind telling me your name?" I say as I move closer to the desk that they are all surrounding.

"I'm Austin and I happen to have a lot of embarrassing stories about Theo I can tell you about. Like this one time..."

"Stop talking." Theo says in a commanding voice that Austin has to follow.

I move towards him and whisper, "We can meet up later and you can tell me all about these embarrassing stories.

Theo then grabs me and moves me away from Austin as Austin shakes his head in agreement. He sits me in his lap and looks at me, "Well I guessing you were looking for me for a reason so what do you need?"

"Alexa and I are trying to figure out what infection your father had because other wolves are getting it and it's becoming fatal for them. We could use and extra brain so we were hoping you would pull some strings and get Gavin sent here." I tell Theo and I feel him tense when I said, Gavin.

"Gavin?" He asks stiffly and his grip on me tightens.

"Gavin Hunter. He's the lab tech who helped me with your father's case." I tell him while trying to get off him. I get off him and stand next to him.

"Why can't someone like Nicole come?" He says as he pulls me back into his lap.

"Because she doesn't specify in what Gavin does. When Gavin isn't in the army he studies infectious disease and does some of the same things your sister does." I try to get up again, but his tight grip has now made it impossible to move.

"How do you know all of this? Did you date?" After Theo says this a see Austin and Max get even more alert, most likely in case Theo reacts badly to what I say next.

"No, we didn't date! He's just a friend." I tell him and I see Austin and Max relax a little.

"Then are are you getting so defensive?" Theo says in a more angry tone.

"I'm not arguing with you over something stupid. We didn't date. We are friends! Now get over it and tell me if you can get him here." I tell him as I pull myself out of his lap. He tries to grab me again, but I move out of his reach and stand between Austin and Max.

"Fine. I will, but you have to stay away from him." Theo says reluctantly.

"But then how will I be able to do my job and help them?" I say frustratedly. Why can Theo act like a sane human being?

"Fine. I'll be present for every time you are going to be around him. If I'm not present Max or Austin will be there." Theo says strictly making me know that this will happen. Before I can disagree and say that it's stupid I'm interrupted.

"Hey, what about me!", Creepy Kyle says.

"I don't like you around Aubrie. You always say suggestive things to her and I don't feel like killing you because my dad will get mad." Theo says as he glares at Creepy Kyle.

"So that's a yes?" I ask hopefully.

"That's a yes." Theo says somewhat reluctantly.

"Thank you so much! I have to go tell Alexa." I tell him as I make my way out of the room. "Bye guys!." I call back to them.

I make my way down the stairs and find my way back to the lab with the help of a random pack member. I knock at the door and Alexa answers.

"Did he says yes?" she asks as she peeks her face out of the door she cracked.

"Yes, he did." I tell her happily,

Well, you are now welcome to come in." Alexa says as she opens the door."So what did you have to do to get him to say yes?"

"Nothing really. I just had to make him understand I didn't want him here because I dated him or liked him."

"Really? I thought he would have made you work for it. I know I would have. Well, now that we have Gavin coming I think it's time for you to start reading these files."
