Chapter 1

A/N - hey thank you for reading! Um this is my first fanfic so head up, also there will be a trigger warning for things such as bullying , homophobia, abuse and drinking and if any of that makes you uncomfortable please forgive me, I am not trying to offend anyone, also I fully support the lgbtq+ community. Nishinoya's pov

I could feel the weight on my shoulders and before I knew it I was on the ground. I was at the park when the school bullies showed up, even though they didn't really target me very often, they still got a kick out of pushing me around. I was young at the time... maybe around 8? ...I remember the tears running down my cheeks and my labored breathing. I could hear them talking but soon paid no heed to their harmful words and mean jokes, I was trying to block them out, I was trying to build walls. But all of a sudden the fading light of the sun was blocked out, and there stood Terushima, my older brother, at the time I looked up to him and we got along great, but Teru-chan didn't know about the bullies and I didn't want him to, because I thought if he knew he would think I was weak too. I looked up at my brother from where I had been sitting on the ground, he looked mad, no, he looked pissed. Teru stepped in front of me, look at the three boys in front of me and scoffed,

"You three, you're pathetic, if you think my brother is weak then you must be stupid, he is the most strong willed person I know, you won't be able to break him."

With that Teru stepped forward menacingly before putting his arms out as if to form a wall before shouting,

"If you ever wanna get to him again you'll have to go through me first!"

*buzz buzz* *buzz buzz*

I snapped out of my daydream when my phone buzzed quietly in my pocket, glancing up I made sure the teacher wasn't looking and I checked the message,

'Dumbass, stop worrying mom and coming home late at night, don't be a little bitch'

The text was from Teru, I laughed out loud at the irony on accident before covering my mouth, it was too late the teacher noticed. "Nishinoya, what is so funny?"

"Nothing sir..." I mumbled

"Good then you won't have a problem solving the quadratics on the board will you?" The teacher smirked.

I sighed softly "no sir.." I mumbled again before going up and solving the math perfectly ad sitting back down in my seat. Things had changed between him and Teru, he knew that, but dammit it hurt so bad when he did dumb shit like this. I thought until I heard the lunch bell, I stood up shaking my head and clearing away my thoughts. Almost as soon as I stepped outside the classroom I got tackled and put into a gentle head lock, "Tanakaaaaaaa stahppppp~~~" I whined loudly before he finally laughed and let go of my head but kept an arm around my shoulders, I shrugged it off. "I'm not eating lunch with you guys today, sorry "

Tanaka shrugged, "it's fine man, see you at practice later." I nodded before heading up to the roof to eat my lunch in a peaceful quiet. A few minutes before the bell rang signifying the end of lunch, I decided to head down to my locker and get my books for my next class, I smiled to myself a little because I knew I would get to see Asahi and damnnnnn that boy has a jawline... I shook my head, no not those thoughts right now, I walked over to my locker trying to twist the combo but my hand shook slightly, "fuck.." I mumbled quietly as I tried to get my combo.

"Hey look who it is.."

"Oh the dumb fag"

"He looks like a junior high student"

I clenched my jaw ignoring the guys walking up to me, but much to my dismay it was just me and them in the locker area. One of the guys, Riin I think, came up behind me and shoved me into the lockers, I fell to the floor quietly, I knew that if I just stayed quiet and went with it, it would be over sooner. Riin and the others kicked my body repeatedly before Riin picked me up by my shirt collar and pinned me against the locker, he leaned in close to my ear and whispered "does this turn you on fag?" I could feel the tears on my cheeks and he laughed and dropped me on the ground but as if that wasn't enough as he walked away he dealt the final blow, "no wonder your dad left, who would want a fag like you as their son?" They walked away leaving me alone in the hallway crying on the floor, I dragged myself to my feet and winced in pain. I managed to stumble into the guy's bathroom and I gripped the edges of the sink and braced myself. Slowly I pulled my shirt up and looked, my rib cage was covered in bruises and small bloody cuts, I cringed at the sight and took a wet paper towel and dabbed the blood away, I heard the bell ring earlier but I decided that I'm just going to ditch my last class then head to practice. I finished cleaning the blood off and I slipped my shirt back down and put on my black school jacket over before walking over to the club room to find some bandaids. After finding the bandages and changing into my practice gear, I practiced my fake smile, it's not that I don't trust the team to help me with the bullies, I just don't want to see them hurt, sighing softly I headed into the gym for practice.

3rd person pov

The entire team knew something was off with their small libero during practice, Noya-kun had been wincing in pain all throughout practice and had been breathing far heavier than normal, Suga, Daichi, Asahi, hell even Tsukki asked him what was wrong but he just smiled and said he had sore muscles, they had no other choice than to believe him, after all he would tell them if something was wrong.. Right?

Noya's pov

Practice hurt so damn bad today, I could tell everyone was getting worried but honestly I kinda was too, I sighed softly as I walked home in the dark, I made sure to walk as slow as possible so I could avoid a run in with satan. Too late. I got to my house but the lights were still on in the living room and there was another car here. Dammit not another one! As of recently my mother had been dragging guys to the house and... taking advantage of them, I never saw the same guy twice, I don't want to deal with this right now. Sneaking around back I climb up onto the fence carefully and jump onto the tree next to our house and then from the tree onto the roof, I landed with a loud thud and cursed quietly before crawling in through my window, I couldn't believe that I had to sneak into my own house. Just as I was closing my window I heard footsteps in the hallway and my door slammed open...  (A/N hehe cliffhanger and I'm mean..)
