Final Thoughts

This book does contain characters from the DC Comics based show Arrow (currently airs on The CW). Some characters will come from the actual DC Comics, but are not from the show. However, you do NOT have to watch the show or be familiar with any of the characters to read and understand this book. It might be nice and fun to recognize certain people, but not necessary. This can act as a standalone work of fiction or just a fanfic.

On a similar topic, I spent a week doing the research for the book before I even started writing it. Most things I researched extensively, but for the few topics I could not find sufficient enough information on, I improvised and put my creative juices to work.

For example, the group that will be an anchor throughout this whole story is The League of Assassins. Now, I love accuracy as much as the next person, but that is not exactly something I want to spend a good 45 minutes looking up. Not trying to get detained people. So, I got the basics and made up the rest.

Another similar example, the places (countries, terms, etc.) I mostly tried to keep believable so almost all of them are actual places within the DC Universe. Where I kind of took some creative liberties is location and placement. I basically made my own map so places may be closer together than they should or would be in real life.

Sue me.

Lastly, the League (and almost all of the countries in this book) are Arabic based so the names of some characters are also Arabic, along with practically everyone speaking the language as well. However, there is only so much Google can teach you about an entire culture, language, group of people, etc. so if my translations are wrong or a custom I describe is inaccurate - I apologize. I would most definitely be appreciative of CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. Please no "this sucks. Your wrong." Yes, I purposely used the wrong "your." Just trying to get the point across. 👀

Okay, now the real two last points. One. I understand Islam is mostly associated with the geographical locations I allude to, but no one in the story is a practicing Muslim. In fact, it is my hope to completely avoid religion in the book. Why? I am a Christian and while I respect all religions, I think it would be a conflict of interest if I tried to take that route of tackling something I am unfamiliar with. And on the same token, I am not establishing any religion (say, Christianity) because I feel that would be too much of a contradiction and messes up the flow of the story.

Similarly, the main female character wears a veil. This is NOT a hijab. I repeat, NOT a hijab. I have nothing but respect for women who wear them, but again, Google can only do so much teaching. I am not comfortable including such a sacred cloth without having a solid argument for using it. Cultural appropriation and offensive use of holy items are a no no for me.

Now, if you actually read all of this, THANK YOU. If not, you will politely be redirected here if you ask a question in the comments that I answered somewhere in the novel above. ;-)

Last, but not least, please enjoy.
