Chapter Two: A Friend
"Hey Black Girl your worth is not measured by a number on scale, likes, comments, views or opinions of others— your worth is yours to define 🌻"- My Black Matters

After walking down the long hallway, you found yourself in room 304: homeroom. The room had around 15 kids from all grade levels. You scanned the room for an empty seat to sit at. Finally you spotted a desolate spot in the back of the room and sat down to glance at the clock.

7:50

Classes start at 8:30. Forty minutes of waiting. Forty minutes of awkward silence. Forty minutes of constant fidgeting. You sighed and covered your face with your hands.
This is going to be a long day.

The bell for first period finally rang and you gathered all of your belongings and headed out of the classroom.

Hmm first period is....

Looking down at your schedule you read U.S. History in room 310.  With a nod you walked down the hallway, reading the room numbers as you went by. The number 310 caught your eye as you made your way towards the classroom and walked inside.

The moment you entered, multiple sets of eyes watched as you nervously made your way to a free desk. Placing materials down you prepared for the upcoming class.

Before you knew it the bell for lunch rang. You grabbed your lunch from your locker and headed towards the cafeteria. Opening the door your breath hitched. Every table was occupied. And it didn't look like anyone wanted to spare a seat.

You sigh and turn around to leave, only to bump into someone's chest.

"I'm so sorry!" You apologize avoiding eye contact.

"..It's ok." A soft unexpected voice whispers.

Looking upwards your eyes met a shy pair of lavender. The boy looked around your age with blonde hair and a loose curl sticking out of his head. He was kinda cute...

Making your exit through the cafeteria doors, the boy turned and called out.

"H-hey! Um I noticed that you're new here. And wondered if you would sit with anyone at lunch. Not saying that you're a loner or anything!! I just...wanted to know if you wanted to sit together..." He trailed off.

Your lips started to smile as you agreed to his request. "I'd love to." You nodded as the boy smiled.

"Okay, follow me. I know the perfect spot."
