BREAKING MY PROMISE FOR HIM [ON HOLD]

CHAPTER 5

[TROY's POV]

psh. nagbibiro lang naman ako eh. sineseryoso rin niya. kung naging sila nga ni Dane dati eh ba't ganun siya kung umasta? mga babae, hindi ko maintindihan. sobrang nagdadamdam kapag nakikipag-break.

hindi muna ako umalis sa bahay nila, tiningnan ko pa muna siyang pumasok sa loob. then nakita kong bumukas ang ilaw sa taas, which i thought was her bedroom, saka lang ako umalis.

weeks and days passed, my focus is to win the regionals. lahat kame, pinagbubutihan ang pagsasanay. before pa man matatapos ang sem na 'to, we'll be having the regional tournament.

"Captain, may gusto pang sumama sa club natin." sabi ng teammate ko. tinaasan ko lang siya ng kilay, malapit ng matapos ang end ng semester, sasali siya?

every first semester lang kasi kumukuha ng mga bagong members ang kahit na anong club sa university.

"hindi niya ba alam ang policy ng university?" tanong ko sa kanya. he just shrugged at me not knowing what to answer. tinuro niya na lang kung sino ba yung gustong sumama sa club. pagtingin ko, si Dane? "ako ng bahala." sabi ko sa kanya at umalis na rin siya.

pinuntahan ko sa labas ng court si Dane. i can see that he's busy watching the players. parang his eyes were focused sa isang tao lang. i tried to follow where his eyes were fixated on. and to my surprise, kay AJ?

"yo, Dane!" i distracted him. nagulat naman siya sa boses ko at ngumiti na lang.

"Troy." we did a buddy hand shake.

"i heard you want to join the team?" i immediately asked him. i led him to one of the benches outside the court. we sat down and just watched the others play.

"haha. oo eh. pwede pa ba?" tanong niya.

"kasi Dane, part of the policy ng university na every first semester lang ang pwedeng kumuha ng mga bagong members on every club eh." i explained.

"ah, ganun ba?" i think he looked a bit down.

"you can try next year." i tried to cheer him up.

"yeah. haha. reserve one spot for me Troy. haha." he joyfully said as he was carefully watching AJ.

bigla ko naman naalala ang sinabi sa akin ni AJ. totoo kayang naging sila ng pinsan ko? kung ganun nga, ba't parang ang cold ni AJ sa kanya? i can't find any reason to see that way. ano nga kaya ang nangyari sa kanila? suddenly i'm curious.

"Captain ah." he said which brought me back to reality. "so much dedication and hardwork!" he then patted me.

i slightly laughed. "yeah, still can't believe it. haha." sabi ko sa kanya. "hindi nga ako makapaniwala na sa akin pinagkatiwala ng dating Captain namin ang team. haha. when he said that i'll be taking over, halos lahat ng teammates ko congratulated me. . . except for her." i sensed he looked at me but when he figured that i was looking at her, he clearly got the thought.

"really? bakit?" he asked curiously.

"hmmm. let's see. first, she definitely hates me, i guess. haha. and the second thing is that, i just think he just hates guys. haha." i was shocked that hindi man lang sumabay sa pagtawa sa akin si Dane. i fell silent for a moment.

"talaga? how come?"

i shrugged. "no idea." then i have this itchy feeling inside me. gusto ko siyang tanungin kung naging sila ba. "maybe she had something in the past that made her that way."

parang natamaan naman ata si Dane sa sinabi ko. he was a bit shocked. "maybe." he said.

"WHAT?!!! BAKIT SAAN NA BA ANG MAGALING CAPTAIN NATIN?" we then heard AJ's shout. i stood up and faced Dane na nakatayo na rin.
