                                                                    Chapter 1

I suddenly awoke to my familiar room with the voice of a scared child in the background and at the moment it didn't really click into my head that I have a nine year old sister.

"Shut up...And go away for gods sake." I said pulling the pillow over my head to block out the voice.

"Seri...Its me Emily." My sister said in a small tone. I pulled the pillow off of my head and rubbed my eyes to adjust to the dark. I propped myself up on my elbows to see my sister walking towards me.

"Oh sorry Emily...I'm just tired...whats wrong?" I asked her.

"I could'nt get to sleep...because I had a bad dream." She explained to me, squinting in the dark.

"Oh well do you want to go downstairs to get a drink or something?" I asked as my eyes fully adjusted to the dark.

"Yes please." Emily said simply. I swung my feet over the edge of the bed and pushed the comforters off of my warm body. I stood up slowly making sure not to lose my balance. My sister  was already walking out of my room and was rounding the corner out of sight. I followed her out and turned the corner left. I walked down the hallway that was lined with different pictures of my mother Andria and I. I was just a child and me and my mother were at the beach in bikinis and in the picture we  looked very happy. In this picture we were making a sandcastle. I remember this day like it was yesterday. We would build a sandcastle but then a giant wave would wash it away. We never really thought of building a sandcastle somewhere else, and I don't know if that's because we were having to much fun or if it was because my mom thought that it was funny to watch me yell at the waves.

As I made my way down the hall I caught a glimpse of a picture of my mom and dad at their wedding. They both looked so happy to be there and it was like you could almost feel the connection between them. Sometimes I wonder if my parents were specifically made for each other. As I moved on I saw some other photos of the whole family, in these photos were my brother Cody and my sister Emily, my dad Darren, my mother Anndria and me. I finally realized I was left behind by my sister so I started to fast walk down the hall. I tuned right onto a balcony with a stair case at the end. As I got to the staircase I stealthily slid down the stairs railings, landing in a crouched position with my bare hands and feet hitting the cold, dark laminate flooring.

I stood up and toke a long glance around the now furnished and repainted area. Straight ahead of me was the front door with a shoe mat laying in front of it. On both sides of the door were narrow vertical windows with the same pretty green plant, that I didn't know the name to on both sides. The walls surrounding the living room and open area were painted a beige colour that matched the floors perfectly. The living room was a rectangular looking space with a fireplace that also matched the floors and walls. Over top of the fireplace was a flat screen T.V. hanging over the top of the mantle. We had a light brown sectional couch wrapping around to fit perfectly with the fireplace, coffee table and the light brown carpet. We also had two twin bookshelves on the Left and right walls. The kitchen was still a beige but the tiles in the kitchen were lighter to match with the lighter walls. There was an island in the middle of the kitchen which was able to fit the whole family, with cupboards wrapping around on the one side.
