"Coran, how far away is Earth from here?"
"Well, let's take a look. Earth is here, and we are all the way....over.....here."
"That's really far."

"Well, yes it is. ....You miss Earth," Coran says more as a statement than a question.

"Yeah, I miss the ocean, the clouds, the blue sky, the rain, splashing in puddles..."
"Rain?"
"Yeah, it's like water falling from the sky."

"We had something like that on Altea, but it was more like sharp pointy rocks, that are like lava...lot's of fun," Coran remembers with a wistful tone.

"Yeah, ..sounds like...fun."

They sit in brief silence remembering home.

"Coran," Lance starts almost cautiously, "I don't want to seem rude, but I would like to be alone for a bit."

\\Smile, the worst is yet to come\\
\\We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun\\
\\Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while\\
\\But the future is forgiven, so smile\\

\\We're trying so hard to get it all right\\
\\But only feel lonely at the end of the night\\
\\I wanna be somewhere away from this place\\
\\Yeah, somewhere just a little closer to grace\\

\\I'll smile, the worst is yet to come\\
\\We'll be lucky if ever see the sun\\
\\Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while\\
\\But the future is forgiven, so smile\\
\\Smile\\

"I just want to go home," Lance whispers to himself, pulling his knees in and resting his forehead on them. Tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

Lance can't let them see him like this.

They already don't need me, Lance thinks to himself if they knew how broken I really am they would kick me off the team.

Who knows when this will all be over, we could be for a long time. Who knows the next time we'll see home, the next time we'll see the sun. Warm tears are now running down his cheeks, even as he try his best to keep it together. I just have to smile and pretend...pretend I'm alright.

\\Well, call me loser, call me thief\\
\\Tell me I'm special when you spit at me\\
\\'Cause I don't wanna be lonely, I wanna be loved\\
\\But the future is forgiven, so smile\\
\\Smile\\

\\I'll smile, the worst is yet to come\\
\\We''l be lucky if we ever see the sun\\
\\Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while\\
\\But the future is forgiven, so smile\\
\\Smile\\

\\And time will eventually knock on my door\\
\\And tell me I'm needed around anymore\\
\\But he'll hold me so close at the end of the day\\
\\When I'm quiet I can nearly hear him say\\

I feel kind of lonely here, like no one really cares about me. Especially Keith...
Keith and his stupid mullet, always thinks he's better than me. I wish....I wish we could be friends if I'm being honest with myself. Maybe I wouldn't feel so lonely then...

"Oh man, if Keith saw me like this..."
"Like what?" Keith asks stepping through the door.

"Oh," Keith startles Lance and he quickly tries to wipe away his tears. Keith walks over next to Lance, who can only hope that Keith can't tell that he was crying.

"Hey, Keith, buddy, didn't see hear you come in. What's up?"

"I...I was just worr.." he stopped and seemed to be trying to pick his words carefully, "we were wondering where you had wandered off to."

Lance watches Keith with curiosity as he sits next to him. It's not like we're particularly close or anything, I mean we fight all the time. Although to be honest we usually only fight over things that don't necessarily matter. And when it is something that matters, it's usually to keep the other safe, because let's face it Keith is a hot head and likes to barge into situations. Maybe... Maybe this is one of those situations.

They sit staring at the stars, neither one speaking. A few minutes pass before Keith breaks the silence.

"Lance, Do...Do you want to talk about it?" He's got an air of uncertainty, which causes Lance to meet his gaze.

"Talk about what?" Lance asks trying to hide any emotion that might try to surface at that moment.

"I mean, you looked like you were going to cry...or were crying. So..." Keith let his words hang between them, searching Lance's face for something.

"Oh...that," Lance turns back to the stars trying to hide his face, as he feels tears start to bud again.

Maybe talking to Keith wouldn't be such a bad thing. It does seem like he genuinely cares, but it is Keith.

"It's nothing really, I'll be alright," Lance tries to assure Keith, even adding a smile, although it's forced.

Keith eyes him, clearly not believing it, but just shakes his head.

"That's a little low even for you, Lance." he pauses before continuing, "Look, I don't know what all this is about, but I.. we need you.. to form Voltron that is. We can't do that without you."

Lance just stares at him. Keith is actually concerned about me. He's trying to play it off like it's the whole team...but I can tell that's it's him who actually cares. It's not like anyone else is here.

"Keith, is that really you?" Lance asks leaning in a little towards Keith to examine him closer.

"Wha-What are you talking about?! Of course, it's me!" Keith yells as he pushes him away.

"There's the Keith I know," Lance says as he regains his balance from being pushed, with a smile on his face. A real smile this time.

"Idiot," Keith mumbles to himself with a pout.

"I'm just a little surprised that you care. I mean it's not like we exactly get along."

Keith's face changes to what seems like confusion and hurt, then sighs.

"It's not that I don't care about you, you just annoy the crap out of me," Keith explains with a shrug like it's the most commonly known thing in the universe.

"Well, excuse me, mister mullet. It's not like you're all rainbows and butterflies either." Lance says maybe a little too defensively, and while what he says is mostly true it's more of just a reaction to Keith at this point. Lance just feels the need to instigate Keith.

He seems to smile a bit to himself then starts to move to stand up.
"Come on Lance. We should get back." Keith says offering Lance a hand.
He hesitates but takes his hand.
"Alright."

Lance follows him out the door.
Maybe being friends with Keith won't be so hard after all, and smiles to himself at this thought. Maybe I won't feel so lonely, maybe our future out here won't be so bad since we have each other. I have you.

//Smile, the worst is yet to come//
//We'll be lucky if ever see the sun//
//Got nowhere to turn, we've got nothing but time//
//But the future is forever, the future is forever//

//Smile, the worst is yet to come//
//We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun//
