Deer

Light plays off of the river. Life slows down by this river. Sitting here in this beat up van I watch.

I am on the outside looking in at them, my friends. They're laughing and playing across the road, taking pictures of each other to remember each other by.  I love them.

Sunlight is fading, but it's fading through the trees beside us.

Is transcendentalism real? If it is this is the realist it's ever felt to me. My music plays as I continue to gaze onward. My friends don't see that in the field across from them and me a deer gazes back. We stare in wonder at each other and then with leaps and bounds she crosses the field and away.

The sun sets.

The river's rapids fade as the van drives away.

Dark night replaces what has been, but I don't miss it.
