I am not straightedge just because I like going against the crowd.

I am not straightedge just because the smell of weed gives me a headache.
I am not straightedge just because my best friend is.
I am straightedge because I want what's best for myself.
I am straightedge because my family wants what's best for me.
I am straightedge because it's such a healthier lifestyle than being a drug addict will ever be.
I am straightedge because I am proud to tell people I don't do drugs, drink alcohol, and whore around.
Is it weird to say I'm proud of these things? I guess I wouldn't really know, ha. Unless I'm asked if I've smoked or drank or lost my virginity (or at least considered anything related to these), my "straightedged-ness" doesn't really come up in a conversation.
I'm beginning to think I should be a bit more outspoken about my lifestyle, but there's only so much money I have, and only so many D.A.R.E. or otherwise anti-drug -shirts to buy. I suppose I could always just paint a giant 'X' on a white tee-shirt...
Dude, all I want to do is go to school and learn.
Is that so much to ask?
