"And we're here!" my mom exclaimed as we passed the "Welcome to New York" sign.

"Oh, yay! I can't wait to be the new kid in school and have no friends!" I said sarcastically. I didn't want to live in New York. I was going to miss my friends in Virginia. Leaving everything behind had been upsetting me, but my mom and dad seemed to be very happy about living somewhere new.

They both had job offers in New York and decided to take them, leaving me no choice but to come. I was only 16 and unfortunately had no other family in Virginia.

"Cheer up, Emily. You'll make friends soon enough," my dad looked back at me. He knew my mom was upset about me being upset and he didn't like it.

I put my headphones in and blasted my music. The song changed and the acoustic version of "If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn" by Sleeping With Sirens came on. One of my favorite songs...
