May Flowers

They say that April showers

Always bring May flowers

But the wilting rose on the window

And the darkening sky's innuendo

Tells me another tale.

They say that spring is a time for love and life

But ever since he went away, it's always rife with strife.

The dead flowers in the vase

All but rest my case

And tell me another tale.

The flowers he sent to me are dying

When he promised undying love

The heavens mourn the tears I'm crying

As the rain comes down from above;

It tells me another tale.

I see no flowers bright and cheery

Only the sky so dark and weary.

I see no promises of spring now spoken

Only promises he made now broken.

They tell me another tale.

They say that April showers

Always bring May flowers-

Well I sure pray they're right

If only so everything in life will set itself aright.

So it can tell me a different tale.
