"Read these."
I see towers of books,
written in foreign languages.
I look up and see a pair of green eyes,
looking straight at me.
His gaze is very uncomfortable,
belittling me.
He slams down a tray.
I look down, and see food beyond the tower of books.
"If you finish up everything and answer every questionnaire right, you eat."
I blank out,
Processing his words,
Food is within my reach.
Is this what I should eat?
Read to eat,
Then I hear him say,
"Read."
There is no question,
Even without food,
I have to read.
