           DYLANS POV

             Shit.

I just found my mate, and I ran from her. I’m such an idiot.

I just knew something was different about her, but when I was trying to get into her head after school, I couldn’t. So I asked father what he knew about her and her family, which he took as complaining, so he forced her to let me in.

While she walked up to me, I couldn’t stop looking at her. She came right up to me and then explained how she had all her walls up, and she didn’t want the whole pack in. She held up her hand, which I reached out to touch. Feeling a shock I pulled my hand away. I couldn’t believe it. She was my mate! My wolf howled with happiness, but I couldn’t process it that fast. I took a couple steps back. She looked scared. Oh no. She thinks I’m rejecting her. NO! My wolf screamed. I almost choked. I need time to think! I sent her a message through the mind link before running away.

I’m not rejecting you, I just need to think. I give you 24 hours to put your wall back up. No more, no less.

I saw a flash of pain in her eyes before I turned tail and ran. As soon as I was outside, I ran straight to the trees and stripped, before turning into my reddish brown wolf. I ran for hours, just thinking about it all.

I have found my mate! I’m so excited!

But I know nothing about her. Not even her name. I’m so ashamed of myself. Why? Because I know that she has been there all my life. I was just being stupid. Not knowing everyone in the pack. She could probably name everybody in our town, human or wolf. I don’t deserve her. I really don’t. But I have to have her. I’ll get her. I’ll prove myself, and she can help me. My mate.

            My mate.

My wolf purred at the words, and I myself shivered in delight. I can’t wait to hold her in my arms and kiss her beautiful lips. To make her mine, and mark her as my own.

My mate. I don’t even know her, and she has my heart.

I regained my senses and turned around, running to the pack house. Not everyone lives here, most wolf families have their own home, but wolves with no family, or those who aren’t able to protect themselves stay here. With the Alpha, my father. I jumped through my second story window, which I kept open for this purpose. I almost ran right into Jane. Ugh, Jane. Why cant you leave me alone!?!

“Hey baby, thought you’d like to have some fun.” She smiled at my wolf and laid across my bed.

            I growled.

“Dyl, baby, I want you. Change back.”

I ignored her and walked into my bathroom, hitting the door with my paw to shut it.

“BABY! You don’t have to hide from me! I’ll see it soon anyways!”

“No, Jane, you won’t.” I growled after changing back human. I grabbed some pants and a t-shirt and threw them on before walking back out to see her still on my bed. “You need to leave.”

“Dyl, I want you.” She whined.

“No!” I stopped and took a deep breath. “I have found my mate, and never want you in my room, ever again.” She didn’t move. “Now, leave!” I put some alpha in my voice and she jumped up from the bed. She glanced at me once before leaving the room. If she were wolf right now, I guarantee her tail would be between her legs.

I ran my hand over my face before falling onto my bed in my clothes.

            I found my mate today.

And tomorrow I will see her again, and I will accept her fully.

With that thought, I went to bed without even eating dinner or talking to anyone else.
