Why We Fight

We are the people who fight when our backs are to the wall.

We are the ones who guard those who cannot fight for themselves.

We are the ones who have been tasked to do this job for years.

We would rather die than surrender.

We never cry stop. If we do, we will lose it all.

I refuse to be the kind of person who allows people to suffer in front of her.

I refuse to sit by and watch as my family and friends die.

I refuse to surrender.

I am not a bystander.

I am not the kind of person who you'd call normal.

I am not the girl who likes to paint her nails and dress up.

I am not defenseless.

I am not innocent, no matter what you may think I am.

I am not a girl who's been given everything without a fight.

I am not a useless little sidekick who sits in the corner.

I am a warrior.

I am a writer.

I am an artist.

I am a friend.

I am a sister, a daughter, a relative.

But above all else?

I am a Creator.

And this is my story. The story of how one moment changed my life forever. A moment that put my family, my friends, and some of my enemies in danger. It is my assignment to protect them now. I will fight to do so. I will not stand by and let them die in front of me. I am a warrior now, and I always have been.

So don't get in my way.
