Wind was whipping my hair,  icy bullets of rain pelted every inch of exposed skin as if someone was aiming each droplet directly at me. I looked out over the dark shadows of buildings from my position on the balcony; I needed to find an escape route and fast.

A deafening, thunder like crash from the floor below cut through the raging storm. He's here. The rain drops start hitting me harder and are becoming more solid and I realise that it has begun to hail. I look over the edge of the balcony. Only two metres, besides, it's my only chance.

Footsteps pound heavily against the stairs and I can hear the tell-tale creak of the last step before the landing. My heart rate increases with each approaching step. I need to jump now. Swinging my legs over the slippery rail, I push off the balcony before I can think about anything else. Falling, falling, falling...

But before my feet can hit the hard, gravely ground below, I am jolted awake. I gasp for air, my heart pounding furiously. My bed sheets and pyjamas are damp from sweat and the fan from beside my bed blasts cool air onto my hot skin.

Peeling the sheets from my legs, I tumble out of bed and blindly stumble my over to the bathroom. My clammy hand fumbles for the light switch and the bulb flickers on, illuminating the bathroom. I splash my face with cold water, effectively waking me up. Flashes of the dream replay in my mind and a shiver runs down my spine.
