dan and phil walk along the road, kicking the rocks beneath their feet. soon they find themselves standing in front of a lake, surrounded by a black fence.
"hey phil, feel like doing something wild today?" dan says, staring admiringly at the lake.
"sure, i love you and your stupid ideas." phil grins at dan, as a light rosy colour paints his cheeks.
"let's jump over this fence and sit at the lake, yeah?" dan says, already pulling one leg above the fence.
"yes! i'm not against this idea!" phil chuckles, making his way over the fence with dan.
they start walking towards the lake, feeling the autumn leaves crunching underneath their toes. they reach the sparkling water, reflecting the sun's light. they're both staring in awe, dazed by the glow of the lake.
suddenly their eyes open--not literally, but they're finally aware of their surroundings. they see everything around them. they hear the birds chirping, see the trees swaying from the wind and watch the water softly creating tiny waves.
but most importantly, they see each other. dan sees the sparkling water matching phil's eyes. ones you could swim in.

they look up at the sky, a little butterfly flutters around. it was finally soaring above the ground, with the air beneath its little wings. it's finally free.
they hear the soothing sound of the water again. it's radiant, blue and full of life. they put their lives aside, becoming one with the world.
an autumn leaf falls from a tree, landing right in between them. they both glance at it, then look up into each other's eyes.
the ones that made each of them fall in love with each other. they both feel their chests flutter.
they sigh in satisfaction. it's been forever since they've felt this peaceful. this happy.
darkness isn't consuming dan, worry isn't dissolving phil.
instead, the bright sun is shining on them. and they think, their love is as everlasting as the sun.
their love was poisonous, something you could never escape from. you live with it until the moment you stop breathing. they were both utterly and completely contaminated by love.
but it was okay, because the feeling completely captivated them.
suddenly, phil feels a nudge on his back, pushing him towards the water. phil instantly captures dan's hand, pulling dan with him. the water makes a splash sound, as the water consumes them both.
they swim up and gasp for air, laughing against one another.
"i love you so much." phil breathes out.
phil places his hands gently on the back of dan's neck, and dan wraps his arms around phil's waist. dan pulls him closer until their bodies collide. phil brings dan's forehead against his own. they stare at the factor that created this poison, before connecting their lips. phil smiles against dan's chapped lips, and tangles his fingers in dan's hair.
it feels like magic, a spark they've never felt before.
they pull away, caught off guard. they realize how poisonous their love truly is.
they snap back to reality, and dan says five words that instantly puts a smile on phil's face.
"i love you too, phil."
