Chapter 1: The

Lily's P.O.V

I never knew that running onto Platform 9 3/4 could be so emotional. I'm going into my 7th year at Hogwarts. It's fabulous that I'm going back (as usual) and what's even better is that I'm Head Girl! I couldn't believe it when I got the letter.

I wonder who the head boy is?

I really hope it's not a Slytherin.

"LILY! LILY! Over here!" I heard my friend Marlene call out to me.

I hadn't even noticed that I'd ran through the barrier. I started walking towards Marlene, until I noticed that I was on the ground and I had a pounding in my head.

"Evans, I am so sorry! Let me help you"

Obviously it was James Potter that I had collided with. I looked up and noticed that he was holding out his hand. Since when was James Potter polite, or kind even. I hesitated before taking his hand. He pulled me up so easily as if I was a feather. Looks like Quidditch is useful for something. I straightened up and he handed me a stack of books that had fallen out of my trunk.

"Thanks" I said uncertainly.

"So, you're head girl?" He asked pointing at the shiny badge on my chest.

"Ah, yeah. Do you happen to know who's head boy?"

"As a matter of fact I do" he said as he indicated to himself. How did I only just notice the Head Boy badge pinned on his chest.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

There was an awkward silence. We both just looked into each other's eyes. I've never noticed how beautiful his hazel eyes were.

"Well, we'd better get on the train before it leaves without us" I said.

I felt heat run into my cheeks. I walked over to Marlene without waiting for Potter to respond. Marlene was standing by the train with Alice giggling.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing".
