Life Interrupted.

First sight

"Presley, wake up. Its past noon!" I could hear my mom calling up from downstairs. What is the point of graduating from high school if you don't get to sleep in, I wondered while I sat up and stretched.
I checked my phone and noticed a text from my best friend Ariel.

"You better be up and ready at 1. Were going to the mall remember?"

Well crap. Its 12:41, my hair looks like a bird made a nest and I'm wearing pajamas. I rushed to the closet and grabbed some yoga pants and a plain white T. I sat in front of my vanity and tried to tame my dark brown hair with my brush but to no avail. Messy bun it is.

I could hear a honk coming coming outside and quickly put on my converse and ran downstairs.

"Bye guys I'm going to the mall with Ariel!" I shouted but before I could get out the front door my dad stopped me.

"Which mall are you going to?"
Oh no.
"Dad you are so not coming with us. I'm 18 now and I think I can manage--"

He started chuckling before I could finish.
"Sweetheart I love you but I'm not going to be holding shopping bags for you and Ariel. My arms would fall off. I simply want to know which mall so I know where you are going to be in case of an emergency."

An emergency? That's why I have a phone. Instead of voicing this I just apologized and told him we would be at the mall by my old high school.

The honking started again and I could hear Ariel shouting something.

"And that's my que dad." I spun around and headed out the front door and was momentarily stunned at what I saw.

"Oh my god. Ariel what is this?"
There she sat is a gorgeous yellow convertible mustang. Very possibly a bribe from her parents for never being home due to work.

"Its a "sorry we missed your graduation" gift from my parents."
She said a little too cheerfully.

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" I can't imagine she would be fine with her parents sending her a car to make up for such a big moment.

"Are you kidding? Its amazing. Much better than the, Sorry we missed your birthday, concert tickets."

We arrived at the mall and I gotta say I'm warming up to this car. Driving with the top down was totally unreal. I took my hair down and shook it as the wind made my messy bun a little bit of a disaster. I love feeling the wind on my face. Maybe my parents will buy me one? I could definitely picture myself in a black convertible. I sent a selfie I took while we were driving , with a question mark and I loved how free I looked. Long brown hair flowing in the wind, green eyes shining with excitement. I was so distracted by my phone I didn't notice the person I was about to crash into until I was suddenly falling.
Strong arms found there way around my waist and held me just before I was about to hit the ground.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't paying attention." my words starting to slur because I could not focus on what I saying. All I could see what this incredibly good looking guy staring down at me.

"Don't apologize. I wasn't paying attention either." he flashed me a bright smile and I almost melted. I took in features for a moment since we was still holding me close.

He had styled brownish blonde hair and bright ocean blue eyes. I could stare at those eyes all day and I'm not even going to get started at that jawline.

"Are you okay?" he looked a little concerned. That's when I realized I've been staring at him for several minutes without speaking.

I heard someone clear there throat and I seen Ariel trying to suppress laughter. I quickly pulled away and straightened myself out.

"Sorry I was just-" he held up a hand.
"Don't worry about it. To be honest holding a beautiful girl in my arms is the highlight of my day." he grinned.

I could feel the blush creeping up.
Great.

"I'm Shawn, and you both are ?"

"I'm Presley." I smiled at him.

"Like Elvis ?" he chuckled.

"Yes actually. My parents first dance was to 'I can't help falling in love' by Elvis. This is my friend Ariel."
She came forward all smiles and shook his hand.
"Hi and before you ask. Yes I was named after a mermaid."
They both started laughing.
I'm actually pretty grateful Ariel is dating Tommy. She is absolutely gorgeous what with blonde hair, blue eyes and those freckles. Just downright adorable and I'm pretty sure Shawn noticed.

Just then he turned his attention to me "How would you like to come over and hang out at my place. I'm pretty new here and i would love to get to know the girl with the gorgeous green eyes." he spoke in a low tone. "You up for it?"
Maybe he didn't notice after all.
